Susan Schwan Obituary

Susan Margaret Schwan

Hamden, CT

Susan "Sue" Schwan, age 71, passed away peacefully January 17, 2017.  Sue was born July 12, 1945 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  She was the youngest child born to Ralph and Alyce (Heyda) Bolt.

Sue received a Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in Social Work.  She retired from the Ingham County Friend of the Court, Lansing, MI after many years of dedicated service.  Sue was a kind and compassionate person who cared for all that she came in contact with.  She never let anyone that came into her home go hungry.  Sue enjoyed playing the piano, reading, cooking, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.  The most important thing to Sue was spending time with friends and family.  She especially loved going camping on weekends.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Michelle Schwan and her grandson DeShawn Schwan of Hamden, CT, her step-children Tiffany (Justin) Wilson and Christopher Chisolm of Lansing, MI, a host of nieces and nephews, and special friends Bonnie Shray (MI), Kathy McKee (MI), Barbara Fields (FL), and Irene Sivavajchaipong (MI).  She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ralph "Joe" Bolt, and her sisters, Rosemary Myers and Kathy Reindel.

A  memorial service will be held at a later date.

Susan was one of a kind. She had a huge heart, was always problem solving, and loved to decorate. She loved her friends, her daughter and grandson. She loved life. She was a good friend, things were always interesting when she was involved. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Michelle---I am so sorry for your loss. Sue was a good friend and so much fun. I enjoyed working with her. I remember you and your Mom helping me with my stubborn mess of a garden after I moved to my house. I know she was happy to be with you and your son.

Sue had a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. She brightened many days that I worked with her at the FOC. I am truly thankful for all the support she gave me over the years.

Michelle - So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. Our prayers & hugs coming your way as you go through this tough time. Sorry we lost touch after her move to CT, but I know she was happy to be near you & watch her grandson grow up. We had such great times in the old north Lansing neighborhood with all you kids. We had many laughs & working with her was never dull! God bless.
