Thomas Fields Obituary

Thomas Randolph "Randy" Fields, Sr. Lansing, MI Age 59, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Randy worked for UNISYS for over thirty years before retiring in 2005. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2008 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Fr. David Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Sunday from 12 noon to 2 p.m., and 4 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary being prayed at 5 p.m. Randy was born on March 29, 1949 in Elwood, Indiana the son of Landis R. Fields, Jr. and Rita (Mattingly) Fields. After graduating from high school, Randy served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972, on the USS Patterson Destroyer Escort and was a Plank Owner. Randy enjoyed sailing, fishing, building boats, and being outside. He loved jazz music and technology. He loved his family and enjoyed family history. He will be remembered for his gentleness and light-hearted sense of humor. Survivors include his son, Thomas R. Fields, Jr.; mother, Rita Fields; sisters, Agnes Cassady, Monica (Pat) Ingram, Teresa (Steve) Collins, and Patricia (James) Barnard; brothers, Gerard (Joany) Fields, Landis R. Fields, III, and John (Kelly Crane) Fields; and many nieces, nephews, and their children. He was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie Rabold; and father, Landis R. Fields, Jr. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or the charity of donor's choice.
