Thomas Craig Potter
Dayton - Tom Potter died of cancer on Sunday, December 23 at his home in Dayton, Ohio. He was 53. Tom is survived by his wife Mimi, daughters Hannah and Claire, parents Stephen and Frana Potter, his sister Joan Potter Thomas (Andrew), brother Daniel (Heather), nieces, nephews and many friends.
Tom was a graduate of East Lansing High School (Class of 1984) and Michigan State University. He worked in the Dayton, Ohio area as a Business Analyst at LEXIS-NEXIS, as a Consultant at KPMG, and as a Business Process Improvement Analyst at Reynolds and Reynolds. After several years in the traditional business world, Tom left to follow his passion and founded Blue Sky Home Improvement and become an independent contractor.
Tom was a craftsman, artist, and storyteller with great intelligence and a razor sharp wit. He loved his family, creating and building, and looking for Petoskey stones in his beloved northern Michigan. He was a generous man who filled rooms and made people laugh.
The family had a private memorial to share favorite memories of Tom in lieu of a formal service. In recognition of Tom's lifelong love of learning, friends have established the Potter Memorial Fund at gofundme.com
where contributions may be made to help support his daughters' educations.
