William  M. Pacelli of Eaton Rapids, passed away November 3, 2015 in Venice, FL at the age of 88. Bill was born in Chicago, IL., July 8, 1927 to Willian and Agnes Pacelli. He attended St. Michael Church and school in Chicago. Bill was drafted into the Army in 1945 and served in the Phillipines. He married Doris Gutsmiedl in 1952 and they have 6 daughters. Bill attended the Radio Institute of Chicago under the GI Bill and worked as an announcer at WAAF and WCFL in Chicago. He and his family moved to Texas to continue his radio career as announcer and sales manager for station KHUZ. There he did play-by-play for local sports. The family moved back to the Midwest and he was hired as a salesman for WISM in Madison, WI. He then transferred to Lansing as sales manager for WITL and did play-by-play football and basketball for MSU, using the radio name, Bill Clark. Bill worked for WITL for 32 years retiring at age 70. Bill was a great guy with a great grin, a hearty laugh and a huge personality. That's the way I'll always remember him. I knew Bill well through Rotary and through various civic events -- a friend who always brought sunshine into the room. When my time is up, Bill, I expect to hear you broadcasting an "Angels" game, or maybe I can join you in cheering your beloved Cubs on to victory. -- Doug Pearson

Dear Bill,
You were an inspiration and mentor to many more than perhaps you realized. You will be greatly missed and I know you will continue to watch over, love and guide your family and friends from Heaven as you did on Earth. Peace and blessings to you and your loved ones.

Meta great 43-year old at my first full-time job in radio: WITL. His smile was always there to greet me upon arriving for work and a coffee cup wasn't far away. In my time at WITL, I go to know him better as a person and he always offered positive comments to the then-neophyte disc-jockey. When he did his play-by-play at MSU, most of it was with me as the engineer. We had some really fun times together. I will remember Bill as one of the nicest people I ever met in my 44 years in radio. Lansing radio and our industry in general was much better because Bill was part of it.

Grandparents' Day 2014

Some of the best moments of my life were getting ready for Grandpa to come visit. We'd run out to the store to buy Cheerios, 1% milk, and peaches for the morning, maple Dare cookies for the afternoon, and gin and Vermouth for happy hour. We'd make the guest bed extra fluffy and set the TV on Fox News, because we knew you'd never change the channel. I'll never forget those cool mornings in California going on walks with you singing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" and coming home to my mom's waffles. We played catch with a wiffle ball in the driveway and when I wasn't very good and wanted to quit, you taught me to keep trying and get better. As an older kid coming downstairs to the sound of your deep voice at the kitchen table in Nashville never ceased to put a gigantic smile on my face. Getting to bring you to Grandparents' Day twice in two years was wonderful and I'm so glad I got to do it as a high schooler to really appreciate the full value of phenomenal grandparents. You have been a gigantic influence on my life and I'll always love and miss you with all my heart.

Rest easy Grandpa,
Carter

Sending my heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your father and husband. We enjoyed many years with the Pacelli family putting on skits for the families, swimming, and having a great time. When I think of Mr Pacelli I think of his great laugh. He looked great for his age and I enjoyed seeing his photos on Facebook. You are blessed to have so many great years with him. God bless.
