Christopher Jensen Obituary

Lubbock- Christopher W. Jensen age 52 died in Lubbock, Texas, on December 14, 2018. He is survived by his wife Nicole Dalley Jensen; a son Jay Christopher Jensen of Allen, Texas; daughters Taylor Jensen Kouts (Jonathan) of Mesa, Arizona; and Bailey Mei Jensen of Allen, Texas. Other survivors include his parents, Dr. Jay B. Jensen and Alice Marie Jensen of Cleburne, Texas; brothers Mark A. Jensen (Christi) of Dallas, Texas; and Stephen E. Jensen (Kathryn) of Spring, Texas; and sisters Catherine Jensen Foley (Tim) of Princeton Junction, New Jersey; Elizabeth Jensen Dalley (Sean) of Cleburne, Texas; and Laura Jensen Allred (Kurt) of Fairfax, Virginia.

Chris was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 3, 1966. His family moved to Lubbock in June 1971 where he graduated from Coronado High School in 1984. After a year at Brigham Young University he served for two years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Chris married his high school sweetheart, Nicole Dalley, in the St. George Utah Temple of their church on April 23, 1988. He received bachelors and master's degrees in accountancy from Brigham Young University in 1991, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Chris' varied twenty-seven-year career as a CPA took him to Texas, Ohio, and Indiana. He spent twelve years with Price Waterhouse. His final two positions were as chief financial officer at Celanese Corporation and at Elanco Animal Health. Chris loved his work and particularly enjoyed mentoring others and helping them improve their skills and advance in their careers. In addition to his demanding employment Chris was extremely devoted to his family and to his faith and gave of his best to both.

Chris was a brilliant and hard-working man. Funny, mischievous, friendly, and incredibly generous and warm-hearted. A larger-than-life personality with the nickname Big Dog. He relished life and adored his wife and his children. Chris traveled extensively and loved trying exotic foods (think scorpions on a stick from a street vendor in China). He had a flair for photography and especially enjoyed taking pictures of his children. He was a true Texan with the boots and hat and big truck to prove it.

Viewing at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20th. To the family, you have my sincere condolences. When someone falls asleep in death (Ecclesiastes 9: 5,10) the memories we have of them become our most precious treasure. May those memories comfort you as well as Gods promise at John 6:40

Chris was the first boy I ever went steady with. We were at St Christopher's, and he gave me a birthstone ring. I think I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. I went home from school and asked my mother if I could go steady with him. I didn't know what that meant. My mother told me I could say yes. I'm very sorry for your loss. -Heidi Attar Gonzmart

Jensen family, we are so sorry for your loss. Your family has been part of so many events of our lives in Lubbock. Jay Jensen baptized me (Susan Curry). Mark was a school mate of my brother, Steve Curry. And I even had a crush on Chris in high school.
Later in life, Alice played the piano in my 1993 wedding at the Church building for the Lubbock 4th ward. We are so grateful to have had these many memories with your family.
We are also grateful for your knowledge of the Atonement, of the plan of salvation, and the gift of eternal families. We hope and pray for your comfort and peace during this difficult time. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
