Dr. Sorensen was my academic advisor and still is one of my life "influencers." Your dad came to our very meager grad school apartment for a meal. The honor of that evening´s talk of Christ, theatre, philosophy and biscuits, remains a precious memory.

To Jon and his family, I hope these thoughts will help warm your hearts when you miss him.
Dr. Sorensen was my professor and graduate advisor. He understood my approach to theatre and as the nexus of the fine presentational art and the practical Christian walk. I think of his wisdom and help as we battled to get my point of view accepted as viable academic approach. He was instrumental in getting the Dean of TCU´s Graduate School to serve on my committee and participate in my orals.
Dr. Sorensen shared a meal in our student apartment, sitting on a church pew, sawn in half,
with the grace of an attendee at a state dinner. We spoke of Christ, faith, theatre, and critical thinking. We ate and laughed. It was a singular evening with a professor so genuinely interested in a student´s life.
My husband and I admired him, remember him still and have remained grateful for having had the blessing of knowing him. He made us better personally and professionally.

Dr. Sorensen was my theatre teacher at Texas Tech University. He was amazing and pushed us all to be better than we thought we could be. The world has lost a wonderful artist.

I have many great memories of Mr. Sorensen during the time I was attending Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas (1963-1966). He was the teacher that impacted my life the most by encouraging me to have the courage to get on stage and try acting. The one thing that I appreciate the most about Mr. Sorensen was that he never allowed any of his high school students ever to say a cuss word on stage! I still today cringe when I go to a high school production and hear the actors cuss. Thank you, Mr. Sorensen for demonstrating to us how a Christian teacher and leader should lead and influence their students! He was and will always be remembered as a remarkable, influential person and teacher! Rest In Peace, sweet teacher and man of God!
