James Struve Obituary

James Ruwayne Struve LUBBOCK-James Ruwayne Struve finished his earthly journey, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, to an eternal celebration of Praise and Joy. You are invited to celebrate his life with family and friends at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Spirit Ranch, 701 Regis Street, Lubbock, Texas, with family and friends sharing their personal stories to follow. Pray for his family and friends that they can fully enjoy his peace. Ruwayne was born on Jan. 30, 1954, to Rudolph and Marian Struve of Abernathy, Texas. He is survived by his brother, Fritz of Lubbock, Texas; his former wife, Cynthia of Seattle, Wash.; children, Jeremy Struve of Dallas, Texas, Amanda and Joshua Hilton, Joshua and Lana Begunova-Struve, all of Seattle, and Justin Struve and Sabrina Beacom of Antigua; and grandchildren, Indy and Jerron Struve, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Faith, Ruby and Jericho Hilton of Seattle. Ruwayne graduated from Abernathy High School in 1972. He attended Southern Methodist University where he played football for the Mustangs and he graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in business. He was owner and manager of Struve Implement Company of Abernathy, Texas, during the 1980's and 90's. Recently he worked in real estate specializing in construction and remodeling of properties for first time buyers with friend Oscar Berlanga. Ruwayne's Christianity was a hallmark of his life as noted by friends and family, as well as his willingness to help and give under any circumstance. His involvement in real estate enabled him to help first time buyers purchase homes and realize their dreams. He was active in several churches in Lubbock in the past years. He served as a divorce care leader and an active member of Christian singles program. Ruwayne, over many years, provided resources and time to the Listening Heart Center of Lubbock with his longtime friend, Dr. Chris Elliot. Ruwayne donated his time and money within the Emmaus group and lived a true life of prevenient grace. His life may best be summed up as that of a Christian warrior providing service to others through unselfish gifts of his time and resources. The servant attitude he exhibited during life continued after his death by the donation of his body to the Texas Tech Medical School Program. The family suggests memorials to the Listening Heart Center of Lubbock at 3050 34th street, Suite A .Lubbock, TX 79410, or a favorite charity as a final gift of service.

Saw Ruwayne's name on my Memorial list from TTUHSC School of Medicine today. My husband and I bought our first house and remodeled it with him back in 1995. My husband passed just 6 weeks after Ruwayne. I remember Brian being shocked back in December about Ruwayne. Live is so unpredictable. To his family, these guys impacted people to an extent that we won't ever know. Its amazing. Hope you are all finding some peace. Pain comes with no schedule, but always follows with some contentment afterwards.

Knew Ruwayne when I was teaching in Abernathy. Had many occasions to celebrate life including snow skiing in Ruidoso. Have thought of him from time to time. Wish his family well in their grieving. He will be remembered.
