Janelle Pharr Obituary

Lubbock- Janelle Pharr passed away January 31, 2019. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 86 years at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel. Family and friends are invited to share memories and expressions of sympathy, and view Janelle Pharr's life tribute at www.memorialdesigners.net.

Janelle Pharr was born on December 15, 1932 to John and Katie DuBose Thompson in Tokyo, Texas. Janelle grew up in Brownfield with her parents and four brothers. She was a twin to John, and they shared a special and close relationship throughout life. She graduated from Brownfield High School in 1950, and played the clarinet in the marching band. She then graduated from Draughon's Business College in 1952. She married Harold Ray Pharr on November 23, 1952 in Lubbock. He was the love of her life for 59 years. She pursued a career in bookkeeping until 1969 when she and Harold formed Pharr RV's. She retired from Pharr RV's in 1998.

She was a longtime member of Oakwood Baptist Church. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart. She and Harold traveled all over the United States in their RV. They especially loved going to Colorado to visit her brother Neil and sister-in-law June. They also traveled extensively overseas while in the RV business visiting Israel, Hong Kong, and Paris. They did everything together for almost 60 years. One of Janelle's greatest joys in life was raising her five children. She was very involved in all her kid's school and social activities, serving as den mother and class parent. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She also enjoyed attending her Brownfield High School class reunions, and continued her lifelong friendship with The Brownfield Ladies. Her hobbies included reading, watching westerns, Texas Tech football & basketball, as well as visiting with all her family and friends. She dedicated her life to God and her family and friends. She loved, and was loved by all who knew her. Her greatest gift in life was always serving others.

Survivors include her children, Jimmy R. Pharr and wife, Marinda; Johnny K. Pharr and wife, Sharon; Jerry M. Pharr and wife, Lorna; Jacky P. Pharr and wife, Marla; and Elizabeth "Jody" Hymer and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Jason R. Shannah and I share our prayers for the many family members and friends of Janelle. We know that your faith is strengthened by the faith that Janelle shared with all of you. Shannah was a cousin of Harold's and the home of my earliest years was only one block from the Thompson home and store. The Thompson boys were much older than me, but my sister Joan was a close friend of Janelle's. Shannah and I have numerous crystal memories of Harold and Janelle and their families. They are missed now, but their influence will live forever. Leon Blevins

My memory of Mrs. Pharr was that she was a wonderful Christian mother. The Pharr's were parents to two children that I knew well. The morning Jacky and Jodie came forward at the close of our worship service professing Christ as their Savior will always be a special moment for me.

Our prayers and sympathy to all the family at this bittersweet moment.

To Jacky, Jerry, and Jody and spouses and all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sorry to hear of mom's/grandma's passing.
she must have been a great lady. I know she will be missed but sounds like she had a very good life and left an impression on many. I like to hear stories of grandpa and grandma and the mischievous Pharr kids.
