Kathleen Sander Obituary

Kathleen Katy Sander WILSON-Graveside services for Katy Sander, 92, of Lubbock and former longtime resident of Wilson will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014, with Pastor Billy Palmer officiating, in Green Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service. There will be a family visitation at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Friday, July 25, 2014. Mrs. Sander died Thursday, July 24, 2014, in Lubbock. Katy was born in Burkburnett, Texas, on Dec. 17, 1921, to Wiley Anson and Rose Eva McCollough Tadlock. She grew up in Wilson and graduated from Wilson High School. Katy attended Texas Tech University. She worked for Wilson State Bank as an Assistant Vice- President. She married Erwin John Sander on Dec. 25, 1940, in Winters, on a Wednesday. They made their home on the farm and retired in 1981, moving to Lubbock. She and Erwin enjoyed traveling and their grandchildren. Erwin preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2005. Katy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wilson, and a member of the Eastern Star #1094. Those who survive her include her son, Keith Sander and wife, Lynn of Lubbock; and granddaughters: Jennifer Sander Hayes of Dallas; Deborah Sander Maxwell and husband, Casey of Littleton, Colo., Julie Sander of Lubbock; and great-grandchildren, Kate and Liv Hayes, Gwen Kidder, and Maverick Maxwell. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Green Memorial Cemetery or their favorite charities.
