Leonel Garza Sr.

Leonel Garza Sr. LUBBOCKI-Leonel Garza Sr., 68, of Lubbock was born on Jan. 5, 1946, in Pharr, Texas. He passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at his home. Mr. Garza was a man of few words, but by just a look you knew what he felt. He was a very loving, compassionate, and good-hearted father, grandfather, and brother. He had a passion for truck driving, fishing, and camping A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, 407 N. University, Lubbock, 79415. Pastor Abdon L. Oropeza will be officiating the service. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Bautista Iglesia Templo, 4810 Ave. P, Lubbock, 79412. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 W 19th St., Lubbock. Leonel is survived by his children, Leonel Jr., Andrew, Jeremiah, Josue, Sylvia, Irene, Sonia and Leonel. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, with one unborn grandchild; and 18 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his siblings, Olga Ambriz, Lamesa, Yolanda Moreno, San Antonio, Sandy Smith, San Saba, Ortensia Rodriguez, Brownfield, Nancy Barton, San Antonio, Andres Garza Sr., Wharton, Fernando Garza, Uvalde, and Richard Garza, Crestview, Fla. Mr. Garza was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Juanita Garza.
