Lonnie D. Stephenson

Lonnie D. Stephenson LUBBOCK-Lonnie Dean Stephenson of Lubbock passed away on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the age of 75. He was born Aug. 8, 1937, in Hawley, Texas, to Dee Witt and Pauline (Gibbs) Stephenson. Lonnie graduated from Whitharral High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy. After honorable discharge, he worked as a machinist for Texas Tech University. Lonnie married Letta Haston on Jan. 11, 1967. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was of the Baptist faith. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Letta; two sons, Larry Burks and wife Peggy of Lubbock, and Lonnie Max Stephenson and wife Delia of Eugene, Ore.; one sister, Helen Vinyard and husband C.E. of Levelland; two brothers, Maurice Stephenson and wife Betty, and Don Stephenson and wife Linda, all of Wolfforth; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd Ray Stephenson; and one son, James Danny Burks in 1988. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.
