Margaret McBroom Obituary

Margaret McBroom AMARILLO-Margaret McBroom, 81, died Feb. 16, 2016. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Burial will be in the Llano Cemetery Margaret was born on April 7, 1934, in Glenwood, AR, to Delton and Lallie Mae Moran. She moved to White Deer as a child, where she graduated from White Deer High School in 1952. She then attended Wayland Baptist University as a music major. She married Lowell Mac McBroom on Sept. 5, 1953, in Skellytown. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2013. Lowell and Margaret moved to Lubbock in 1988 where they resided until returning to Amarillo in 2009. Margaret devoted her life to caring for her family. She loved nothing more than tending to her home and being Maw Maw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret enjoyed Christian music, especially gospel music and enjoyed attending Gaither concerts with her family. She and Lowell were longtime members of First Baptist Church. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of Ware Memorial and the staff of BSA Hospice and most of all to her roommate Bea, for all of their loving care bestowed upon Margaret. Survivors include: two daughters, Connie Lyn Miller and husband, Richard of Canyon, and Kae Rae Austin and husband, Stan of Amarillo; sister, Pat Denham and husband, Don of Pampa; four grandchildren, Lindsay of Amarillo, Leah and husband, Rhett of Lubbock, Travis and wife, Ashley of Lubbock, and Marianne of Amarillo; and six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Oliver, Berklee, Addie Mae, Lainee and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Lowell McBroom The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Lubbock, 2201 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401. So sorry to hear about Margarets passing! She was a lovely lady and we were blessed to have met she and Lowell several years ago when I was diagnosed with MG. She was so kind to my husband and I. She will be missed!
