Pete Lara Obituary
Funeral mass for Pete (Peter) Lara, 58 of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Interment will be at City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Friends and family are invited to recite the rosary at 7 p.m., today, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Mr. Lara passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center. He was born on November 26, 1958 in Lubbock to his late parents; Telesforo and Anita (Garcia) Lara. Pete passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends. He had a Heart of Gold, the most contagious smile and a laugh that always lit any room. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams included The Philadelphia Eagles, NY Giants and he loved his Texas Tech Red Raiders. Pete loved playing Bingo and the Texas Lottery and always came out a BIG WINNER. He loved his Classic Rock, 90's, and Tejano Music. Pete always looked forward to family gatherings and BBQ's. In his life Pete had two pets whom he loved dearly, "Rock and Raider." Pete was LOVED BY MANY AND WILL BE MISSED BY ALL.
He was preceded in death by a brother; Frank Lara and a sister; Margaret Bierra.
He is survived by a long life friend; James Benavidez, sister; Patsy Felix and his brother-in-law; Eduardo Felix, three nieces; Veronica Felix, Anna Felix, Blanca Felix, four nephews; Luis Felix, Johnathan Bierra, Frank Lara Jr, Robert Lara. He also leaves behind 15 great nieces/nephews and a multitude of family to include in-laws, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are; Luis Felix, Frank Lara Jr, Robert Lara, Ralph Valdivia, Alfredo Moralez, Paul Lopez, Gabriel Hinojosa, and Joe Armenta. Honorary Pallbearers; Alfredo Moralez Jr, Caleb Garza.

My brother Little Joe Gutierrez' best friend growing up in the Barrio. Peter was very shy when he was a kid but became a beautiful young man with an incredible heart. You will be missed Peter but you just delight yourself in God's Presence.

My heart goes out to all who loved Peter. I will always have fond memories of that delightful smile and kind being. Not only a gentleman but a gentle man as well. Although he is in a better place, I can't help feeling a little sadness at the loss of a long time friend and neighbor.
