Robert Earl James Sr.

Robert Earl James Sr. LUBBOCK-Robert Earl James Sr., 60, passed away on Nov. 9, 2012. Robert was born on Aug. 23, 1952, to the parentage of Willie and Wilma Cooper James in Shallowater, Texas. Robert attended Lubbock public schools and graduated from Dunbar High School, class of 1972. Robert was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company immediately after high school and retired after 18 years of service. His Christian life began at an early age at the Church of God in Christ No. 2, presently Christ Temple COGIC. Robert briefly relocated to Midland, Texas, and continued his service at Greater Ideal Baptist Church. Robert leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Wilma Cooper James; two sons, Robert Earl James Jr. (Crystal) and Shan Robinson James (April); three daughters, Erica Johnson, DaRonda Adams McKinney and Deniece Robinson James; seven sisters, JoMarie Gilbert, Betty Phenix, Gwen Evans, Ernestine Banks (Dallas), Mary White (Archie), Shirley Davis (Wendell) and Kathy Jennings (Charles); brothers, Willie James Jr. and Johnny James (Vanessa); 14 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, in Lyons Chapel Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
