As a young student you planted the seed of horticulture in me. My life has never been the same. It is a driving force in my life and always will be. I can't imagine what my life would be without the love of plants in it. You literally changed my life.

RIP Prof. Planted, pruned, and picked grapes with you and Doc McPherson. Tasting room was an old Refrigerator in a nearly empty building called Llano Estacado. God Bless. Hort 1980.

I knew Robert when I worked 10 years at Meals on Wheels. He was a mainstay to the organization. He always had a smile on his face and was always cool and calm and collected. His common sense provided many solutions to problems we had at the office. I left Lubbock in 1996 and Robert was one of the people I missed most after our move. I loved hearing the stories of his wine making and making messes in his kitchen. He was such a delight and much loved. Jimmie Sellers

Bob Reed was one of the finest teachers at Texas Tech and just a wonderful person. His enthusiasm for horticulture was infectious and made his classes enjoyable. His stories were always fun and kept his students engaged. He always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to know. My prayers are with you.

I remember my years studying with Professor Reed fondly. He was an outstanding professor and a model of service to his country and community. My thoughts and prayers are with you through the days and weeks ahead.

Rest in Peace, Bob. You were not just a great horticulturist, a great teacher, a great pioneer, a kind and loving person--you were a great friend, and my life is so enriched because you were in it. I will never forget you. We will meet again.
