ALBERT NOORDA Obituary

DR. ALBERT NOORDA An era ended, a superhero passed into the next world. Albert George Noorda ("Doc A.G."), 89, of Las Vegas, reunited with his wife, of 64 years, Joyce; daughter, Robyn; and Heavenly and earthly parents Dec. 14, 2016. He was born Jan. 15, 1927, to Anna Sieverts Noorda and Hilbertus Noorda, in Salt Lake City, the oldest of eight children. After being valedictorian of South High (SLC) and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hollandland of his parents' birth. His missionary companions would become lifelong nonbiological brothers. Aug. 22, 1952, Al married Joyce Elaine Silfvast, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple. Upon completing medical school and internship at the University of Utah, Al began practicing medicine in Cedar City, Utah. He was soon lured to Las Vegas by Lake Mead and missionary companion, Ray Zobrist. He established his independent medical practice on Maryland Parkway, then the south edge of town. There he perfected the practice of general medicine. His breadth of skills, diagnostic acumen, and fanatical devotion to his patients today seems unfathomable. He set fractured bones, independently performed minor surgeries, assisted in major surgeries, and delivered babies-his greatest medical joy. Lives were saved, touched, and transformed by Doc A.G.'s care. Medicine could not contain all of Doc A.G.'s enthusiasm and energy. Off road motor biking, water skiing, tennis, and most beloved of allpower snow skiingwere not just individual pursuits, but also a means to enhance family vacations and activities. More important to him than being designated at age 61 "the best powder skier at Brian Head, bar none," was his role as the best husband and father. Joke telling and little pranks also revealed his mischievous side. Upon miraculously recovering from a near death experience three years ago, Al had one request: that he and Joyce spend their last years being with family. His wish was granted. His last years were spent living with his granddaughter, Jennifer, and her family where loving care was provided. Al is survived by sisters, Viola Ward and Naoma Nilsson; and brothers, Norm, Lamar, Leon, Ron, and Daniel Noorda (and spouses); by four of his five children (and spouses), Christyn Andersen, and Cal, Barry, and Roger Noorda; as well as 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Flowers will be receive Dec. 22 at the LDS chapel at 7885 West Robindale, (cross Buffalo, SW side of town) Las Vegas, NV 89113 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to granddaughter Stacy Perry's "GoFundMe" colon cancer account, gofundme.com/stacystruggle. Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m., Dec. 22, at 7885 W. Robindale. Funeral services are at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, at the Robindale chapel with a viewing beforehand. A graveside dedication will follow at 12:45 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. "Love, Life, Family All Eternal."

Dr. Al
It was only recently that I learned of your passing and this news brought back a flood of memories. From the time I first walked into your office at eight years of age until I hugged you goodbye in that same office as you were retiring, it was 44 years. Simply stated, you were the best. A doctor totally devoted to his patient. You were there caring for me as I grew from childhood to womanhood, to motherhood,, (delivering both of my children). And cried with me when I lost my mother to cancer. I am now 64 years of age and I can honestly say you were one of the most honorable men that I have ever known. I just want to say thank you, thank you for being my Doctor.
Sincerely
Chanda Teeter

To say I was saddened by AG's passing is an understatement. What a man...and doctor. He was our family doctor for over 20 years; he brought three of my four children in to this world and arrived for one of them in paint shoes and clothes. He said he's been painting and came right over. He fixed everything we had, took out tonsils, assisted in surgeries and a myriad of other things. He was AMAZING. My children loved him too. It was while I was in Salt Lake for a visit that my oldest son sent me a text letting me know of AG's passing. Our family loved and admired him. My children were always fascinated by him. He was fun and personable. I can only imagine the fun he is having now. My you all find comfort and peace in his passing and know that there is a family in Vegas who thought he was THE BEST!

Dr Noorda was a great leader of young men. I remember his medical treatments for boils which was greatly needed after my father died. He was so generous helping my widowed mother in her time of great need. Mostly I remember his contribution to the Young Men of the LDS Las Vegas 5th Ward. His spiritual influence motivated many to achieve the Boy Scout Eagle Rank and then off to serve full time missions. His personal letters offered strength and encouragement.
Doctor Noorda was a hero and a great example of service for all of us who know him. His energy during activities and spiritual focus during Priesthood meetings was surpassed by none. He will be missed, but always remembered in the minds and hearts and of those lives he touched.

Dr. Noorda rescued me on Chair 2 in Brian Head and graciously gave me skiing lesson a good 25 years ago. He was so kind, and I always told the story of that day that changed my skiing level to advanced intermediate. I am forever grateful for his kindness. I also admired that he was always on the slopes enjoying his passion of skiing over the years.... Blessings to his family and close friends... One of a kind has earned his wings...

To all of the Noorda Family;

The passing of one of "my heroes" while growing up a couple of doors away.
He and his family have so much to be proud of.
Teaching me to snow ski, water ski, motorcycle ride, "The Famous Turkey Bowl"
and on and on. His devotion to my Mother,
Gladys through her illnesses will always be remembered and appreciated.
A great neighbor who left a great impression on how to live your life to the fullest and be remembered with a "shining light". My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dr. Noorda was a true family doctor. He delivered my three children between 1970 and 1980. He was there for me and assisted when I needed surgery. He attended to all our medical needs. Long before there were quick care clinics, you could count on Dr. Noorda, no matter the hour.

Dr. Noorda' wife, Joyce, and his staff were all just wonderful. They truly cared about their patients.

Thank you Dr. Noorda for all your loving care. May you and your wife enjoy your everlasting heavenly reward that you justly earned.

Dr. Noorda delivered all four of my children from 1976 through 1982 and assisted Dr. Boruszak with my surgery. He was our family doctor until he retired. His wife and his entire staff were wonderful. He was the best doctor! My prayers and condolences are with the family.

I too remember Joyce and Al Noorda so well. Dr. Noorda was truly one in a million. He is a huge part of my memories growing up in the Las Vegas LDS 5th Ward. Every ward outing was made more fun and exciting when Brother Noorda was there. I remember his purple speed boat and how all of the youth wanted to be with Doc Noorda. He was my doctor and delivered one of my daughters, Jennie. He set my broken leg. He was our go to whenever anyone is our family was sick. Dr. Al Noorda will always hold a special place in my heart. He was an example to many, and a light to all who knew him. I'm so grateful I recently saw him with his beautiful daughter Jennifer and was able to give him a big hug and tell him how much I love him. What a beautiful family and amazing legacy of love and faith he and his beloved wife Joyce have left for all of us. Our love and prayers are with you all.

To the Noorda Family:

Karla, I and our whole family are in Europe traveling. Sorry to hear of Doc's passing. He patched me up several times as a youth and was an outstanding skier even taking me skiing while sporting a cast on one leg. Very generous man that helped anyone in need. Glad to have grown up in the same ward as the Noorda's . Alway's had a nice word to say and make you feel wanted. Thank You for good memories. Our deepest condolences to you all!

I remember Joyce and Dr. Al, so well. They were my neighbors on McWilliams Street and I think it was their 1st house in Las Vegas. I babysat for their then 3 children. I think they must have been in their late 20's then. My condolences to the remaining family. I know Joyce did not leave this earth very long ago. Rest In Peace .

A medical icon of Las Vegas is gone. Al helped launch my practice in the early 80's, and we collaborated in the delivery of many babies in the 80's and 90's. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
