1943 - 2018

ALPHONSO MONTERIO SR. Alphonso Monterio Sr., affectionately known as "Big Al" and "Grandpa" to his family, friends and peers, transitioned from Earth to Heaven, Friday, April 6, 2018. He was doing what he truly enjoyed, working on trucks. Big Al was born May 2, 1943, in Daytona Beach, Florida. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he proudly served our country. He completed two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. As a young man, Big Al traveled throughout the United States pursuing his passions, racing cars and fixing trucks. This great love led him to create a successful business, Day or Night 24-Hour Mobile Diesel Repair in Las Vegas. He leaves behind an amazing wife, of 23 years, Wipha "Pat" Monterio; and four incredible children, Angelean (John) Monteiro-Mathis of Long Beach, California, Alphonso "AJ" (Angelique) Monterio of San Antonio, Texas, Albert Monterio of Los Angeles, California, and Alphonso "Lil Al" (Kathleen DiGregorio) Monterio II of Las Vegas. His great legacy also includes 10 fantastic grandchildren, Jayla (Angelean), Alyssa and Aliyah (Alphonso "AJ"), Abertneisha Nicole and Albert Jr. (Albert), and Alina, Jayda, Kayla, King, Kaylani and Kathleen (Alphonso "Lil Al"); one miraculous great-grandson, Roland (Alina); a wonderful brother, Pete Monteiro; and many extended family members and friends. We are honored to have shared our lives with him and celebrate his legacy. Memorial service will be at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, the day that marks his 75th birthday, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
