Bert Purdy Obituary

BERT PURDY JR. Bert H. Purdy, Jr., 62, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007. A lifetime resident of Las Vegas, he was born June 8, 1944, and raised here. Bert graduated from Rancho High School in 1962, and went on to receive his degree in accounting from Northern Arizona University in 1968. He served two years in the U.S. Army before he reemployed with the Internal Revenue Service. Bert went on to earn his masters in business from our own UNLV. He served the IRS for 27 years, until his retirement May 1, 1995. On May 2, he opened his own tax consulting practice. Bert spent many years volunteering, including the Sunrise Hospital Emergency Room, First Christian Church, and his children's PTA organizations from elementary school thru high school. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy James Purdy; his son-in-law, James Patrick Norman; and his parents, Bert and Georgia Purdy, all of Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, of 36 years, Kathryn Purdy; daughter, Amanda Purdy, both of Las Vegas; and sister, Margo Malcomb of Hemet, Calif. Viewing will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 6. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial to follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, P.O. Box 20135, Las Vegas, NV 89112.
