Bertie McCoy Obituary

REV. BERTIE MCCOY Rev. Bertie Elizabeth DeGroot McCoy was born to Elizabeth Wood DeGroot and Herbert Allen DeGroot in Jones, Okla., April 9, 1922. Bertie attended 12 years of school in Jones, Okla., and then went to a business college in Oklahoma City. She married Frank McCoy in 1949. She passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Nov. 12, 2007. She was 85-years-old. Bertie has been a faithful, loving and caring pastor for over 65 years. Her first pastorate was establishing and pastoring the Assembly of God Church in Luther, Okla. From there she started and pastored a church in the Bakersfield, Calif., area. Her final pastorate was serving 30 yeas at Echoes of Faith Church in Las Vegas, where she ministered to many, many people and started a private school. Over the years, Rev. McCoy evangelized and helped start several churches in the Oklahoma City area and other parts of the U.S. She traveled to China with Nora Lam, traveled with Paul and Jan Crouch, went to Israel, Nigeria and other countries. Bertie's mother, father, husband and brother, Herbie DeGroot, preceded her in death. She leaves behind her faithful partner in ministry, Pearl Trumbly; her nephew, Gary DeGroot and his wife, Patty from Quinton, Okla.; several nieces and nephews on the McCoy side of her family; a host of friends and church family from Las Vegas, and many other cities and states. Funeral services for Rev. Bertie McCoy were held Nov. 15, in Jones, Okla. A memorial service will be at 7p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Echoes of Faith Church, 1401 E. Washington Ave.
