BRIAN STEGALL Obituary

BRIAN STEGALL Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Brian Charles Stegall, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021. Complications from a health issue, not Covid, was the cause of his passing. He was born in Galesburg, Illinois on May 13, 1955 to Rex and Vernis (Pratt) Stegall, who both preceded him in death. Brian was a 1973 graduate of Galesburg Sr. High School and was very active in the music program. He was a drummer in the band and jazz ensemble and competed nationally with the school when they went to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1973. Brian went on to attend the University of Arizona in Tucson and was the youngest member to ever join the Tucson City Symphony Orchestra. He was a percussionist who loved music and especially jazz. He soon realized there was more of a future in finance and business which became his major at the UofA. He worked diligently in his 38+ year career in equipment financing earning many accolades along the way and was very proud he could provide for his family. Brian loved competition and never backed down, whether playing pool, ping pong, foosball, basketball, bowling, or horseshoes. His famous line was "I squeaked it through" even if he clobbered his opponent. Brian was a one-of-a-kind individual who could annoy you, rile you and make you laugh like no one else. He would tease you 'til you actually laughed at his antics in trying to get to you. His biggest love though was for his wife, children and dogs. Brian was extremely proud of his children's accomplishments from the day they took their first breath and would share stories that only he could tell. Since he grew up in the Midwest, they always teased him about his "corny" jokes. He was the life of the party and always loved to host get-togethers where everyone was invited. Each year the family would have a 4th of July party that rivaled any public one. He would buy fireworks and every niece and nephew were guaranteed a sparkler! He was adored not only by his family but by his children's friends and his many nieces and nephews, all over the country, who treasured him. He was known for his love of animals especially his Bassets, Sherlock, Holmes and Roscoe and his daughter's Bruno. He leaves behind his trusty friends Rusty and Bane. Brian leaves behind his loving wife Linda, daughters Kelsey and Vanessa, and son Trevor, as well as sisters Connie (Ken) Gallatin and Sonnie Samuels, all of Las Vegas. In addition, he leaves behind to all those who knew and loved him: the love of the sun, music, laughter, ham and beans, gardens, celebrations, dogs and memories to treasure of the man who will never be replaced. There is no funeral as he requested. Memorial donations can be made to Opportunity Village, Las Vegas, NV in Brian's daughter, Vanessa Stegall's, name. In the springtime, on an especially sunny and warm day, plant something in memory of Brian.

I have loved and missed Brian since I left him in AZ to finish school and moved back to Ca in 1979; the fondest and most joyous memories of my life remain the ones with him in CA and Az and the Arizona Sonoran desert as a backdrop to my love of him

It is true that he was unique and so special and irreplaceable

Oh Brian! Impossible to forget! We got the first annual family Christmas photo without you. I wiped away tears and then I when I had another look at the photo, I brightened up when I marveled at what you left behind. Kelsey brought a young historian into the family, your son had a sweet young lady by his side, Vanessa continues to be a dynamo, and your Linda continues to love you and what you both built together: a gorgeous, loving family! You did great Brian! Rest in Peace. Love, Ursula and her family

Brian I am so sad to hear of your passing. You were a great guy who could make me laugh. I was telling Linda the snake story and now I'm going to share.
I met Brian at Centel Business Systems we worked in Finance. One day I opened my desk drawer POOF a big rubber snake! Imagine my shock....but I knew it was Brain. I waited and watch for Brian to leave his desk and brief case. Yes I did at first chance I opened his brief case and placed the snake in it. I believe it was the next day Brian came over to my desk with his wicked smile he opened the brief case in a meeting SURPRISE.
Brian you will be missed by many.
Hugs and Love, Diana

When I think of Brian - I think of a consummate family man. What a great neighbor who basked in the joy of family life! Everything he loved the most was at home: His beloved Linda, the wonderful children, and pet dogs. I loved his exceptional wit and snappy-comebacks. Brian had a wonderful, dry sense of humor. Years ago in our Arizona neighborhood, we had terrific Easter egg hunts for our young children. At one of these events, I was clustered with a group of women and I was talking of things I made out of ordinary bed sheets. Well, Brian who popped his head into this conversation, couldn't resist and said: "No sheet! That's great, Ursula!" More than thirty years later I still can laugh over his quick witted comment. Dear Linda and children: Your husband and father was an exceptional man who never took his eyes of the one valuable prize in life: his cherished family! How you fulfilled his life with joy and happiness! There will always be so much to miss about Brian. Brian, thank you for making us laugh! Love: Ursula George and family.

Our hearts & prayers to you and the children, Linda. Brian was always so full of joy and so proud of you all...he will be missed by all of us. I still laugh about how much fun we had when he would "sit in" on drums with the band:)
May God give you strength during this difficult time. With Love, Karen & Joe

I have been working with Brian for a long time as a customer of his in the banking leasing business. We enjoyed many lunches together over the years. He was a man who tried his hardest. He always talked about his wonderful family. I admired him greatly, and loved his friendship. He talked about how he loved to read the Night Before Christmas book each year to his family. A great man that will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Brian for many years. Brian always had a smile on his face, a joke to share to make your day better or a story to share He was so proud of his children and always, always would share about their accomplishments. The most attribute I admired most about Brian was his love for his lovely wife, Linda and his family. Brian was a very special person and am so glad that I had the pleasure to work with him and know him. My heart and prayers go out to Linda and his family.

Brian really was one of a kind!! Funny, smart and very kind hearted ❤. I learned how to waterski for the first time on the back of Brian’s boat with Linda and “Doble” he was a great teacher with patience! My kids and I will always remember Brian, it’s just something about him that will make us remember that memory. RIP ❤
