CAROL DERNER Carol Ann (nee Niedhammer) Derner, 83, of Henderson, passed away April 20, 2018. She was born May 12, 1934, near Evansville, Indiana, to Jacob and Catherine (nee Grant) Niedhammer. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, of 55 years, George; her parents; brother, Donald; and nephew, Christopher. Carol is survived by her niece, Elizabeth Niedhammer; nephew, Cameron (Dee) Niedhammer; grandniece, Jessica (Craig) Volz; and grandnephew, Christopher (Cassie) Niedhammer. Carol graduated from Reitz High School and followed her early passion for literature to Indiana University with a Masters in Library Science. She and George settled in Merrillville, Indiana, where she retired as Director of the Lake County Public Library System in 1999 and moved to Nevada. She enjoyed reading, her cat, travel, books, antiques, church and numerous other social groups. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at New Song Church, 1291 Cornet St., Henderson. Burial will be at a later date at Bethlehem UCC in Evansville, Indiana.
