CAROLYN HASSELL Obituary

CAROLE HASSELL Carolyn Ann Freeman Hassell passed away April 26, 2014. Carole moved to Las Vegas in 1965, and loved the city and all its people for almost 50 years. Her sweet southern charm and exceptional patience made her an irreplaceable friend to many. Carole did not need to go to Heaven to be an angel, she spent her life as one. She is survived by her beloved son, James Christopher Hassell; her adored sister, Laura Freeman Blackburn; as well as a multitide of friends. Her friends are welcome to join a memorial celebration of Carole's life at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the Tuscany Ballroom, on the second floor of the Tuscany Suites, 255 E. Flamingo Road. Enter the main entrance to the elevator on the right. Refreshments will be served. This is truly a celebration of a beautiful life.

Laura, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Christopher. Carolyn was in my sister Faye (Burton's) class in high school; also my husband, Mack Hardy's class as well. We all loved her. Her sweet spirit was surely a special gift from God. I pray that our Heavenly Father will wrap His loving arms around you and comfort you as no other can.

We have been Carol's neighbors for more than 10 years, and never was there a brighter light that shined on our block. She was always joyful, always generous, always singing, always strong. I think we just got a hint of what a great, fun, creative and rambunctious woman she was. We will miss her a lot.

There are many mega as well as lesser known entertainers incredibly saddened by Carole's sudden passing.

As Director of Entertainment for the Cabana Hotel & Showroom properties, Carole was beloved by dozens of performing artists who worked for her during the 1960s. Her joyful demeanor, lightheartedness and appreciation for entertainment continued throughout her life.

Carole and her sister Laura were avid supporters of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. She will be sorely missed by those who were fortunate to know her. Don Kelley – Los Angeles

Carol was such a gracious, fun, beautiful woman. I was blessed to be in her circle of "Blonde Bimbos" a name for our super get-togethers at her home. She will forever be in my heart and she will be greatly missed. My prayers are with her family.

Dear Christopher,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Your mother was such a beautiful, gracious woman with an open heart and delightful laugh. I last saw her at the Smith Center and even though it had been years since our last meeting, she embraced me like not a moment had passed. I was her dental hygienist for 16 years and was blessed to call her my friend. She often spoke of her amazing son and how you meant the world to her.
Sincerely,
