CHARLES TRUE Obituary

CHARLES TRUE Charles Edward True, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, due to complications of Alzheimer's. Charlie was born April 28, 1941, and was raised in Watertown, S.D. He owned several businesses in Watertown, including a Baskin Robbins, Models Etc. and True Temp Manufacturing. The majority of his work career was spent teaching and spending time with kids. His passion for teaching took him to Desmet, S.D., Tonapah, Arlington Heights, Ill., Little Rock, Calif., Bishop, Calif., and finally Las Vegas. Charlie lived in Las Vegas for the past 35 years and retired from the Las Vegas school district in 1996. During the summer months of his teaching years, Charlie would take on jobs such as a security guard at Chicago's O'Hare airport, animal keeper at Africa USA, lifeguard and welder. His passion for working with kids was evident in the years he spent as a football coach and volunteering with the Boy Scouts. An avid plastic model builder since a young boy, Charlie put together models of all sorts. Most of his adult life he continued this hobby, was an active member in the local hobby clubs and traveled across the U.S. to compete in competitions. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Life Baptist Church, 6316 S. Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, NV 89113.

Charlie was a great man and spent hours teaching me and my friends how to model WWII planes, tanks, etc. He always treated us like adults even though we were just kids and had the most patience of anyone I knew. Rest in peace my friend.
