Curtis James Stengel, age 83 passed away on March 24, 2021. He was born in Minneapolis, MN, on April 16, 1937. He was the second child born to Otto and Ida Stengel and is survived by his brother, Phillip. He and his family moved to Las Vegas, NV, in 1968, to join the Las Vegas City Police Department. He served the City of Las Vegas Police Department for 28 years. Additionally, he worked at the Ice Palace in a variety of capacities. Curt was an active member of First Good Shepard Lutheran Church. Upon retirement from Metro in 2004, Curt and his wife, Prudy, moved to Amargosa Valley. There he served as a volunteer firefighter, served on the town board, and helped build the new senior center. Curt and his wife were fortunate to find a beautiful cabin in Duck Creek Village, Utah, where he spent many summers fishing, hiking, and enjoying the cool mountain air! He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with "The Boys" in the mountains of Northern Nevada. Curt was proceeded in death by his parents and his eldest daughter, Dr. Lori Stengel. Curt's memory will be carried on by his wife of 64 years, Prudy; sons Kevin (Becky), John (Shelley), daughters Mary (Terri), Sara (Mark), and Barbara. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you toast his memory surrounded by family and friends as he would have wanted. "FAMILY TRADITION!" I didn't get the chance in this lifetime to meet or even know Curtis, but I do have the pleasure of knowing someone that shared wonderful memories of him. I know that he was a treasure and will continue to be so in his passing. He has left a legacy of kindness!

Curt you are my Favorite Human and now My Angel. Always a kind word for everyone. You were the of Amargosa and you are missed. Heaven gained another Angel and Earth lost one.
