CDR DONALD C. MEYER U.S. Navy Retired CDR Donald C. Meyer (U.S. Navy, ret.) 86 of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on December 25, 2020, in Las Vegas. Don Passed away in his sleep of natural causes and now with our savior, Jesus Christ. Donald C. Meyer was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John & Lena Meyer on June 14, 1934. Don was affectionately known as "everybody's friend." Don graduated High School from Davis High School in Utah, and upon graduation from the University of Utah, he joined the Navy and Officers Candidate School in 1957. Don met the love of his life, a pretty Naval Nurse named Barbara Thompson, while they were stationed in the Philippines. Their love story lasted for 61 happy years. Don is survived by his wife Barbara, Son: Christian/Terri Meyer, Daughter: Mary/Mark Grant, and Son: Patrick Meyer. Grand Children: Kyle and Alexandra Meyer, Andrew, Aidan, and Alexis Grant. Don earned his Naval Aviation flight wings by Completing six solo landings aboard USS Antietam CVS-36 in 1958. Don served as an officer on USS Intrepid-CVS-11, USS Yorktown CVS-10, USS Robert A Owens DD-827, USS Cogswell DD-651, and Commander Destroyer Squadron 19, Executive Officer Naval Station Guam, Commander Fleet Training Group San Diego. Donald C. Meyer retired honorably from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of active duty on August 1, 1979. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 8:30 AM. Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV. Military burial with Color Guard.

I want to again extend my deepest sympathy to you Barbara and your beautiful family. Don was one of the "good guys" and we all will miss him. Please know I am here for you in the days ahead if you need anything. Love and prayers.

I wish to extend my prayers and condolences to the family. I worked with Don at the city for several years he was a great person to work with and a good friend . I will miss him .

Our condolences to the family of the late Commander Meyer. Carmen was the CO's secretary from 1978 to 1998. Carmen never met CDR Meyer, but heard the CO mention great remarks about the former XO CDR Meyer during several meetings. Great job XO.

Don was one of the best neighbors we ever had. He was always there when you need him. We shared so many life stories over dinners together through the years. We will miss him.
