Dorothy Dean Scialabba, age 78, passed away peacefully in Ely, Nevada on Sunday, December 13th, after a long battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Born in Omaha, Nebraska to Arthur and Elva Jones on May 19, 1942, Dorothy moved to Las Vegas, Nevada as a 9th grader where she attended Las Vegas High School. Soon after arriving in Las Vegas, she met a young man and fellow student, Sal Scialabba, who became her high school sweetheart and love of her life. Dorothy and Sal married in 1960 and recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in June. Together they raised five children. Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker who later joined her husband in the family construction business in Las Vegas, Malco Incorporated, once her children were grown. Dorothy and her husband retired to Preston, Nevada in 2003.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Sal, daughters Tina, Penny, and Lisa and son Joe, six granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and 3 great-grandsons, as well as her sister, Sally Douglas and brother, Bob Jones. She was predeceased in 2011 by her son, Sal Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Services are pending.
