FRANK DIEDERICH Obituary

FRANK DIEDERICH In loving memory of Frank C. Diederich, who passed away Sept. 28, 2012. Frank Diederich was born in Chicago, in 1925, to German immigrant parents, Franz Diederich and Hattie Peters. He achieved his bachelor's degree at Northwestern University in 1954 after World War II U.S. Naval service. He primarily served in Cuba, followed by nine years of U.S. Reserve Components. Frank's primary occupation was as a State Farm insurance agent for 30 years and he was well-known in the BMW community as MOA#3, co-founding the club in Chicago in 1972. Frank was married to Georgia Mazarakos early and had one daughter, Karen. He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 42 years; his daughter, Karen Hashberger; and his grandson, Michael, currently serving as a U.S. Navy submariner. Frank and Margaret lived in Las Vegas over 10 years, where Frank enjoyed various crafts, mainly woodworking and reading. He lost a long battle with cancer, but his daughter, Karen, was with him up to the evening of his death in Las Vegas and wants to thank in particular his friend, Denny Carder, who offered tremendous support and compassion over the past year. Also thanks to Bob and Helen Noble and many thanks to Hospice of Las Vegas. Frank's daughter has made arrangements for his burial with military honors at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego. "Goodbye, dad. I so very much miss talking with you."

I Remember sitting with Frank at some Rally somewhere, it was late, we were testing some sweet libations, and had solved most of the worlds problems. Frank looked over and said, Mike ya know, I hope to remember this for ever, everything is right with the World at this moment. Thats how I will remember Frank, At peace with the World, and as joyfull as you can be. I will miss you my friend.

I have been friends with Frank and Margaret since the early seventies sharing many BMW rides and winter campouts in those earlier days. We kept in touch by phone and Email in the more recent years. I will miss him.

My condolences to both Karen and Margaret.

I was friends with Frank for many years. I still remember rides on our BMW's together, roads passing beneath our wheels, and the Joy of Travel and Friendship. I have spoken with him over the years and will always remember him as a true friend, and a leader in the Chicago BMW community.

It was my pleasure to write and article about Frank for the BMW Owners News several years ago. Frank called and we spoke for almost an hour. He impressed me as a true "Gentleman" in every sense of the word.

The BMW motorcycle community has lost on of the founding fathers of the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America. He will be missed.

My condolences to his family and friends.

We enjoyed many years of friendship with Frank Diederich and his wife Margaret. It will seem strange to go to Las Vegas now knowing we will no longer be spending one day visiting and dining with them. Knowing Frank, wherever he is, Im sure he is keeping those around him entertained with his writings, as he is very talented with the mighty pen.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Mr. and Mrs. Diederich through my work. I always enjoyed our conversations. It was sad to see them both in declining health, especially Frank over the last year or so, but their smiles were still there and I will always remember them. I offer my sincere condolences to Frank's friends and family.

My heart goes out to Mr. Diederich's family. I have the honor of having known the Diederich's because of my employment. I was heartbroken when I learned of Mr. Diederich's declining health. I hope that his family finds comfort and peace in each other.
I am so happy to have known such a special person and know he will be missed.
