I always think of Gordi, I met him and worked with him for 7 years (3p-11p) from 1978 when Vito co-owned Eifermans with the great George Eiferman, then I owned Eifermans from 1988-1991 with Steve Smith. Gordi was loved by many and a rock star to all the members and few knew his position with Howard Hughes,
I was blessed to hear many stories and many about Hughes and heard first hand of the true and false stories. Gordi was a great story teller (all true).
He was one of the most interesting people I´ve met and considered him one of my best friends.
I remember working with Gordi when he met Helen, a true blessing and bright light in his life then he was on cloud nine when Sean and Danielle were born.
Gordi blessed me again when he sang Ava Maria (in Italian) so beautifully for my Dad Rocky´s funeral in June of 2000.
Thank you Helen for making Gordi´s life complete! I saw his face light up every time he was on the phone with you, I believe you were still in New York.
Gordi will never be forgotten and he´ll always be loved.
I love you Gordi!

For some reason Gordon Margulis' name came to mind tonite. I Ggl'd to learn of his passing in 2009. I knew him but briefly when I worked with Jack Kogan in 1978 and Gordon had given me a copy of The Hidden Years. He was a kind, gentle giant of a man who enveloped you with knowing acceptance. May continued peace be for the Margulis family -

To the legacy of Gordon Margulis and the keeping of this guest book active and on line, if tributes to such a great man, mentor, and true friend could be measured as one's goodness, Gordie will continue to shine and live on within our hearts for knowing him, and the wonderful kind of person for which he will always be remembered.

I first met Gordie at the Foundation Room. I was 27 at the time we met. I never knew his past at first. Only that he was the most impressionable person i have ever met. I once told him that he reminded me of my grandfather, and i looked up to him as much. I worked behind the bar and since we were often the last ones to leave, he would often tell me stories of his youth in London. We would always enjoy these talks over a small glass of his favorite port wine. A 100 year old Calem. He used to smile that grin and tell me how his mum put him to bed once with a thimble of port. I will always remember you, sir. I hope i make you proud. I expect to see you again, not anytime soon though, yeah. Always in heart and spirit. Cheers sir.

My uncle's brother in law and my first great love at only 14. He always treated me with kindness and respect, like a much older big brother. I have only fond memories of him, and my thoughts are with his family at this sad time. Gilly

I want to express my deepest condolences to the Margulis family. My wife, family and friends got to know Gordy from his years at the Foundation Room. What a wonderful and wise man! We spent many hours sharing good times talking about our beloved families, philosophizing about life, and our mutual love of boxing. Gordy was one of those few people you meet in life that infuse pure joy in your heart every time you see them. He was a man's man with the soul of a poet. It breaks my heart that in this life, I will not hear that wonderful voice of his, but as I write this note I can clearly hear him saying, "Don't worry about me mate. It was my time to go, and you..young fella..enjoy every moment of the time God will give you". Once again what a wonderful soul. I'm looking forward to seeing him again!

I met Gordy at Eiffermans in the mid-80's. I was the skinny new guy that no one wanted to work out with but Gordy was always friendly and helpful and taught me a bunch about working out. Because of him, I ended up making a lot of friends at Eiffermans, many I still see today at other gyms. The last time I saw Gordy was at 24 Hours a few years ago. He had the same smile on his face, remembered my name and shared some stories with me from his Hughes days, which I only knew about because I had seen him on a TV show about Hughes a few years earlier. He was a truly decent guy and the world is a poorer place without him. He was always so nice and friendly. God Bless Gordy and all his family. My prayers are with you.

Helen, Sean, and Danielle; You are in my thoughts and prayers during this very sad time. Gordon was such a polite man when I met him when our sons were in college. Also, when I called the house a while back, he was such a gentleman over the phone. I know that his gentleness and kindness to me will be remembered for years to come. God bless each of you at this time and always. Love you, Nancy
