Harry Sisson Obituary

Harry John Sisson, age 78, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 23, 2004, in Knoxville, Tenn., from complications of cancer. Harry was born Sept. 17, 1925, to Harry J. Sisson and Barbara (Manahan) Sisson in Chatfield, Minn. He attended school in Chatfield and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1943. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Pacific during World War II. After his discharge, he spent some time in California and later returned to Chatfield to enter the grocery business with his father. He retired after 30 years in business and moved to Las Vegas, for about 20 years. He then moved to Knoxville, Tenn., to be with his daughter, Mary and her husband, Donald Snyder. He served on the board of directors of the Associated Grocers for three years and was a member of the Marine Corps Association, the Fifth Marine Division Association, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Ann; and wife, Lorraine Zank Sisson. He is survived by one son, Anthony D. Sisson of Minneapolis; two daughters, Mary T. Sisson of Knoxville, Tenn. and Vickie L. (Sisson) Tingle and husband Rick, of Escondido, Calif.; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at All Saints Catholic Church, Knoxville, Tenn., with Celebration of Life services to follow at 11 a.m., with Father Brent Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chatfield, Minn. Monday, June 28, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to Calvary Cemetery Association, Chatfield, Minn.
