JAMES BONAVENTURE
JAMES BONAVENTURE The family and many close friends of James Bonaventure, who was born in Steubenville, OH, in 1949, and moved to Las Vegas in 1958, are deeply saddened by his passing on January 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents and worked at the Culinary Union for many years. He worshipped at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church. Jim loved his family, wife; two sons; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with all his heart. Jim had one sister, one brother-in-law, her daughter and her children, whom he loved dearly. We miss you very much.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY BELOVED BROTHER, JAMES BONAVENTURE AKA JIM, WHO PASSED AWAY ON JANUARY 1, 2021 DUE TO FAILING HEALTH ISSUES.
JIM WAS A WELL RESPECTED MAN WHO´S CONSIDERABLE KNOWLEDGE OF THE RULES & REGULATIONS OF CULINARY UNION LOCAL 226 TOOK HIM FROM BUSBOY AT AGE 15 TO WAITER AT THE HORSESHOE HOTEL TO THE SHOWROOM AT THE MGM AND AFTER SEVERAL YEARS AS A CULINARY UNION REP HE WENT ON TO THE POSITION HE HELD FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS AS DIRECTOR OF LEGAL AFFAIRS FOR THE CULINARY UNION DUE TO HIS EXCELLENT ARBITRATION ABILITIES. JIM WAS A LOVING GENEROUS PERSON ALL HIS LIFE WITH AN EXCELLENT WORK ETHIC. HE CONTINUED TO WORK DESPITE A DEBILITATING STROKE SEVERAL YEARS AGO BECAUSE HE WAS VALUED AND THAT MEANT MUCH TO HIM. HE WAS ALSO A DEVOUT CATHOLIC HIS WHOLE LIFE AND UNTIL THE STROKE HE FAITHFULLY ATTENDED MASS AT OUR LADY OF LAS VEGAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, A PARISH HE LOVED.
JIM WAS WELL RESPECTED AND WELL LOVED. HE WILL BE REMEMBERED BY MANY.

My Condolences go out to the Bonaventure family. Jimmy B, as he was known, was the heart and soul of our union. I learned so much working with him and i feel honored by having done such. Culinary local 226 and Las Vegas lost such a wonderful man. He will never be forgotten

My Deepest Sympathy to his family. I had the honor of knowing Jim through the culinary union he was always busy but when I walked by his office he took the time to listen to me and tried to resolve my issues. He did a great job on the culinary pharmacy . Best run pharmacy in town. Great man he will be missed!!!
