James Roberts Obituary

James C. Roberts, 80, of Las Vegas, passed away March 21, 2005. He was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Humphrey, Ark., and resided in Las Vegas 43 years. He will be missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Mildred; his sons and their wives, Tom and Marilyn of Las Vegas, Tim and Diane of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Ronald and Julia of Lake Havasu, Ariz. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Alvin; and sister, Lucille, both of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Myrtle Roberts; brother, Carl; and sisters, Edith, Hazel and Annie. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was deployed on the U.S.S. Brazos and U.S.S. Beaugainville. He was a member of the Animas Masonic Lodge No. 15 AF & AM in Farmington, N.M., a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge 1468 in Las Vegas, and was a regular blood donor with United Blood Services. James retired from Teamsters Local 631 after 30 years of service with Reeco/EG&G. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Shadow Hills Baptist Church, 7811 W. Vegas Drive. Interment will immediately follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. To Family Home Health, Family Home Hospice, the personal care agencies Americare and Visiting Angels, and to the Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels Program, the family wishes to express our sincerest thanks and appreciation for their patience, care and compassion.
