My deepest condolences to the Fathie family. I have very fond memories of Dr. Fathie from when I would attend the AANOS and International College meetings as a child with my father, Dr. Mathews. Dr. Fathie and Gitta were always so nice to me and pleasant to be around. My father and mother both spoke highly of him as a leader, doctor, and man. He will be missed.

Thank you Dr. Fathie from a grateful family!
On May 4, 1988, Patrick Thomas Rose was driving to Lake Mead with a friend to enjoy a day out on the water. What happened next changed
Pat's life forever.
He suffered a severe head injury when the PEPCON explosion in Henderson, NV occurred. The concussion from the explosion propelled
a rock through Pat's truck roof striking his head. Emergency services were rendered in Henderson and he was Flight for Life transported to Valley Hospital. Dr. Fathie was just finishing a surgical case there and was then ready to care and surgically intervene for Pat.
Dr. Fathie was most definitely at the right place, at the right time, and most importantly with the right medical and surgical expertise to care for Pat. If not for Dr. Fathie we may have lost Pat that day. Dr. Fathie gave Pat 29 years and 4 months more life. The Rose Family will be forever grateful for Dr. Fathie!
RIP Kazem Fathie MD and condolences to his wife and family.

Dear Arezo Joon and the loving Family, as we saw the shared memories that were expressed about your Father today, it reminded us that we need to speak about his wonderful character, humanity, compassion, a man of gravitas and sincerity, considerate, simpathatic, tolerant, approachable and many more. Our friendship with him and the family started nearly quarter of century ago. One of the high lights of the relationship was your lovely and beautiful wedding. We spent so much time in and out of his house with all the events that were taken place continually. Meeting and getting to know people of different walks of life. I remember the time that we spent together while I was in Europe. It was a wonderful and quality time for me to learn and enjoy his company. Also, remember when our Son Pasha was playing violin and your Dad would play music with him. We have so many films, videos and memories of all the wonderful things that we were involved together. I remember, like it was yesterday, that he surprised us with you, your beautiful daughters and your lovely Mom on my birthday. From him we learned: The significance of what family and friends are for, how to deal with life and it's complexities, and a lot more... He touched our lives more than we expected and of that we are grateful that God made him one of the puzzle pieces we need to carry on. He was a wonderful, Loving and sincere individual,he was deeply Loved and adored by his peers, friends and family alike. A shining light in so many peoples lives. We miss his sweet smile, great sense of humor, generosity, giving heart and down to earth attitude. He had enourmous knowledge on so many different subjects and more... His legacy will live on through all the great works that he did. He will always be in our thoughts and prayers! May We all find comfort and strength to cope with his loss! Although we've lost a beautiful soul we are blessed with the love he gave us and the hope he inspired. This is a fragile time...a time to be gentle with yourself and give your heart permission to grieve, to feel, to remember. Strength and hope will come again, but for now... do what you need to honor this sorrow, letting your heart and spirit heal! He is forever remembered, forever Loved. Hope you can feel the love that surrounding you in all the ways you need!! With our Deepest Sympathies and Sorrows!! The Sabouri's

Dear Birgitta and family:
It was with much sadness that I read about Dr. Fathies passing. What a most remarkable soul he was! Always considerate, thoughtful, compassionate, and kind, ever compelling ones mind and heart to know more about the essence of life. Even though I last saw both of you 30 years ago, I have not forgotten the inner peace and joy you both evoked. One of his books proudly sits in my library and I smile when I see it, remembering his passion for writing and healing the world. Thank you, Kaz, for leaving the world a better place.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Fathie family, his lovely wife Gitta, my dear friend Arezo and her daughters, Aria and Ayla and his sons Ramin and Arman; your entire family and circle of friends.
Kazem has left a legacy through each of you whom he loved dearly and was so very proud of, through all of us, whom he mentored, befriended and loved, and colleagues and friends he influenced; everyone whose life he has ever touched. He set an example as a brilliant humanitarian in this world. His poetry is legendary. He will be sorely missed but not forgotten. I will greatly miss my dear friend, mentor and colleague.
When I completed my Neurosurgical training, Kazem brought me under his wings and groomed me to follow in his footsteps as a leader in our specialty. He uniquely recognized my expertise and knowledge, technical abilities, Neurosurgical and leadership skills and always supported my dreams and efforts to succeed. We worked closely together for a little over the past decade plus. He brought me into his life, his Neurosurgical and global leadership world of colleagues and friends and into his family. He was always kind, knowledgeable and funny. He often shared wonderful stories. He had a heart of gold. He always encouraged me to continue making a difference and forge frontiers while on our unique paths that had crossed during our lifetimes, never limited by any barriers in Neurosurgery or otherwise. He exemplified and encouraged compassion and expertise in our specialty, the never ending acquisition of world and Neurosurgical knowledge, professional skills and continuous education and the indefatigable pursuit of excellence.
Kazem was a great man with a big heart and soul, and he meant a lot to me. May he Rest In Peace and his memory be forever for a blessing. I will remember him always
