Kenneth Ruhd Obituary
Kenneth Ruhd, 82, of Willow Street, Pa., died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in the evening, at Homestead Village following a long illness. He had formerly resided in Las Vegas for 12 years and prior to that in New Braunfels, Texas. Born in Wolf Point, Mont., he was the son of the Late Theodore and Minnie Clara Maresh Ruhd and the husband of Margaret Black Ruhd of Willow Street, Pa. They were married Sept. 15, 1945, this September would have been their 59th anniversary. Ken had worked through the United States Department of Defense for the U.S. Air Force as an electronics engineer, stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, installing radar systems. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, Pa. and the Central Christian Church while living in Las Vegas. In his younger life, he had worked for the Civil Conservation Corps in Glacier Park, Mont. He was active with the churches he was associated with and a Boy Scout Leader in San Antonio. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Edythe N., wife of Norman G. Metzger of Willow Street, Pa.; two sons, James L., husband of Annabelle Ruhd of San Antonio and Mark D., husband of Betty Ruhd of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and a sister, Alice Cruzan of Port Orchard, Wash. He was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Welzenbach; and a brother, Harold Ruhd. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his life celebration in a memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Homestead Village, 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster, Pa. with the Rev. Dr. Randolph T. Riggs officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in a reception to be held at Homestead Village. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be set in Ken's memory to First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Arrangements were handled by Fred F. Groff Inc. Lancaster, PA.
