Leo Pierce Obituary

LEO PIERCE Leo Charles Pierce, long time Las Vegas resident and businessman passed away from complications of treatment for Esophageal cancer in St. George, Utah May 12, 2007. Leo was preceded in death by his sister, Kay Marie Pierce; son, Leo Charles Pierce, Jr.; father, Leo John Pierce; and mother, June Evelyn Pierce. He is survived by his wife, Susan Pierce of Cedar City, Utah; daughter, Lori Whitney and husband, Nate; sons, Scott Pierce and wife, Peggy, Jim Pierce and wife, Shannin of Las Vegas, Dennis Pierce and wife, Lola of Cookville, Tenn.; brother, Ken Pierce and wife, Glenda of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; five nieces and nephews; and his constant four legged companions, Delilah and Blondie. Leo was born in Waterloo, Iowa in November 1936, and attended Tucson High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1955 through 1958. He and wife Susan moved to Las Vegas in 1966 where they owned and operated Nevada Graphics, a trade typography service from 1966 through 1986. They were divorced in 1987. After closing their business they both worked in the Las Vegas and Tucson printing industries until retirement. They reunited in 2005. In July, 2005, they moved to Cedar City, Utah to enjoy each other and retirement. Leo was diagnosed with cancer in October 2006, and received treatment at the Veterans hospital in Salt Lake City until his passing. He will be missed as a father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend. He was memorialized in a private service at Palm Mortuary on Eastern Ave. Thursday, May 17. Semper Fi.
