Lorin Anderson Obituary

LORIN ANDERSON Lorin Dee Anderson, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, in Las Vegas. After a long battle with complications of diabetes, he departed peacefully surrounded by his family. Age 78, he was born Sept. 21, 1930, to Roscoe Jorgen Anderson and Ann Seegmiller in Tremonton, Utah. A lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lorin grew up on a farm in Depression-era Bothwell, Utah. He diligently pursued an education and graduated from the University of Utah. On Jan. 16, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Bonnie Rae Ward, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They raised their family in Arvada, Colo. Lorin spent many years in the service of others. He was called and served in the Central States Mission, and later served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as an accountant and manager for the Bureau of Reclamation in the territory of Saipan and the Bureau of Mines in Denver, before retiring. With Bonnie, he served a mission in the Toronto LDS Temple. Lorin and Bonnie retired to Las Vegas in 1998. His hobbies included travel, gardening and reading. Lorin is survived by his wife, Bonnie Rae Anderson of Las Vegas; his six children, Deborah Lee (David) Meyers of Millikin, Colo., Thayne Lorin (Karen) Anderson of Littleton, Colo., Jaclyn (Daniel) Frey of Arvada, Colo., Carla Rae (Thomas) Hartmann of Broomfield, Colo., Eric Ward (Ronda) Anderson of Clearfield, Utah, and Lisa Ann (Jeffrey) Moore of Las Vegas; 26 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Elkhorn Springs 2nd Ward, 6051 Dorrell Lane in Las Vegas. Viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be Thursday, May 22, in the Bothwell Cemetery in Bothwell, Utah. The family would like to express their appreciation to the many doctors and nurses and staff at Davita who provided loving care to Lorin these many years. Arrangements are under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, (702) 398-3600.
