Margaret Ruhd Obituary

Margaret Black Ruhd, 82, of Cornplanter Road, Willow Street, Pa., died Friday morning March 4, 2005, at Homestead Village following a brief illness. She had formerly resided in Las Vegas for 12 years and prior to that in New Braunfels, Texas. Born in Eagle Pass, Texas, she was the son of the late John and Claudia Rachel Black and the wife of the late Kenneth Ruhd, who died April 6, 2004. They were married Sept. 15, 1945. Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster and the Central Christian Church while living in Las Vegas. She had worked summers at Yellowstone National Park. She is survived by a daughter, Edythe N., wife of Norman G. Metzger of Willow Street, Pa.; two sons, James L., husband of Annabelle Ruhd of San Antonio and Mark D., husband of Betty Ruhd of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grand-daughters; sister, Mary Finch of San Diego; two half-sisters, Frances Black and Teresa Black. She was preceded in death by a sister, Claudia Hinckley. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her life celebration in a memorial service at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, Pa., with the Rev. Dr. Randolph T. Riggs officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in a reception to be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent in Margaret's memory to First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Arrangements by Fred F. Groff, Inc., Lancaster, Pa.
