MICHAEL TANNER Michael "Mike" N. Tanner, 84, passed away April 21, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born in 1927, in Fullerton, Calif. Immediately after graduating from Lodi High School, in Lodi, Calif., Mike joined the U.S. Navy near the end of World War II. He was a Nevada resident since 1949. Mike attend University of Nevada, Reno, until he was recalled to active duty in the Korean War. Upon his return, Mike went to work for Nevada Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 35 years, in 1991. Mike loved riding his motorcycles. With his sons, and many friends, he rode all over Nevada, California, and Arizona. Before his illness, he was involved in organizing and coordinating motorcycle races. He was part of the group that staged the first Enduro in southern Nevada. Mike is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Candace Giles (Michael) of California; sons, Michael V. (Iliana), Christopher (Denise), Nicholas and Patrick, all of Las Vegas, and Dennis (Pamela) of Reno; granddaughters, Tera Antillon (Steven) and Taylor; grandsons, Michael P., Zachary, and C.J.; the light of his life, great-granddaughter, Mia Antillon; siblings, Carolyn Beaupre of Virginia City, and Larry (Angel) of Carson City. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 11, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, making a donation to a charity of your choice.
