PAULINE APPLEBY Obituary

PAULINE APPLEBY Pauline Margaret Appleby, 82, passed away Oct. 24, 2016. Pauline's friends remember her compassion, generosity and strength of conviction. We will miss her British wit and inimitable opinions that made her uniquely Pauline. Born in 1934, in Leicestershire, England, to Dr. Richard and Ann Restall. She obtained her degree in pharmacology from the London School of Pharmacy in 1964. Pauline came to the City of New York in November 1966, with her husband, David Hamilton Appleby. Pauline was a cruise director from 1969-1977. Pauline's Las Vegas story begins when she joined the Mark Travel Corporation in December 1977. She started with the company as the manager of Las Vegas customer service and opened the Las Vegas office for Funjet Vacations. She became the vice president of Nevada Operations in 1988. The Las Vegas operation was a critical part of the growth and evolution of Mark Travel. Pauline was committed to providing end-to-end service to all of her Las Vegas customers. In those days, Funjet Vacations was operating 25 to 30 charters and scheduled flights a week from multiple origin cities. Pauline was well-known by travel agents, customers and all of the local hotel suppliers from the front desk to the general managers. When a problem occurred, Pauline stepped up and went to whatever end and means to make sure the customers were satisfied. People still talk about Pauline's extraordinary efforts and her acts of kindness. Pauline was a key part of the story of Mark Travel and its growth in Las Vegas. With over 35 years of service to Mark Travel, Pauline left her "mark" on the company. Pauline was also active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Hospitality Sales and Marketing Associates and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. Pauline's greatest love was for her toy Poodles, BoBo and KoKo, who brought her tremendous joy and happiness. In addition, Pauline's greatest moment of pride is when she became a United States citizen in August 1993. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, David Hamilton Appleby; and younger brother, Sean Restall. She is survived by her cousin, Ann Issacs of Leicestershire. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Bishop Gorman Chapel, 5959 S. Hualapai Way, Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Pauline Appleby's name to the Infinity Hospice Foundation LLC., 6330 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89118.

RIP my Friend.

I absolutely loved your stories. You could tell them like no other.

I'm grateful to have been with Terry Linex the day she met you and for all the fun we've had in Las Vegas and Mexico. Those memories light up my life.

I'm certain all your Poodles met you at The Rainbow Bridge and ushered you into heaven. Say Hello to my Pack of Great Danes.

You will be missed. Soar with the Eagles, my unique friend. I know Heaven is a lot more fun because you are there.

Until we meet again.

There will never be another person who could light up my life with smiles, giggles and laughter like Ms. Pauline. My cup runneth over with fond memories.
I shall cherish every memory and miss her more than can be expressed in words. She was deeply loved. Truly loved.

Pauline, and her stories and her accounts of life events which she told like no one else can, were so interesting. Pauline was Las Vegas, the glitz, glamour, beauty and fun. She gave a lot more than she asked. Pauline was so special and unique, she is so sadly missed already. This passing for us will not be easy.
