Richard Ickes Obituary

RICHARD ICKES, D.C. We gave our beautiful Richard Scott Ickes, 42, of Henderson, back to God, Nov. 21, 2009. We hand him up into the peace and grace of our Lord and Savior's arms. Scotty was a loving father, son, brother and friend. He was an adventurer, athlete and healer. Scott is survived by daughters, Alexandria (15) and Madelynne (9); parents, Howard and Sherry; siblings, Bill and Susan; and a broad extended family. If there are snow-covered mountains in Heaven, Scott is snowboarding across them like butter melting down. As he glides among towering trees, he is surrounded by beauty far greater that of the Earth's nature that he so loved. His best friend, dog, Smiley is chasing behind him barking wildly. They are together, full of life. Scott loved nature and found God through it. If there are guitars in Heaven, Scott will be playing one and singing in that beautiful gruff voice. Scott loved music, had a gift for playing and lost his cares in the spirit of music. If there are golf courses, Scott will golf; marathons, he will run; mountains, he will climb. Scott was an athlete and loved especially those sports that brought him closer to nature. As for the celebrations, Scott will be there. He will be in the middle of it all, his charisma beaming, his heart full, his spirit shining through beautiful peace-filled brown eyes. Scott had a zeal for life and fun and surrounded himself with countless friends whom he touched with his gentle, deep spirit. Were there wounded or hurting bodies in Heaven, Scott would heal them, especially the children. He would tap into his beautiful energy and transfer it into the injured. Instead, we imagine he will quietly inspire the healers he's left behind. He will pray for them and send them strength to continue his mission to ease suffering. In his lifetime Scott was a healer, touching others' lives through his chiropractic practice. He laid hands on patients from infants to the elderly, in an effort to calm their pain and bring healing. Scott is greeted by his beloved Grammie Eunice. If there are easels and paintbrushes in Heave, they will paint together - images of peace. Scott was a wonderful artist and writer. Mimi and Gran Gran are joyous to see him and are preparing a feast. Uncle Randy will say grace. Scott, was and is, embraced by all of his family. Everyday Scott will be watching over his girls and loving them. He will rally with the angels to guardian them comfort them and protect them. Scott was a loving father. His girls were his greatest source of joy and pride. Scott affirmed his love for Christ and will be with him. Though we will miss him until we are reunited someday, we know he will be waiting amongst the most glorious of accommodations. He is made perfect. He found peace. Viewing will be from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, with service following 4-5 p.m., both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

To the family of Scott,

I met Scott at UNR and his friendship changed my life. After I left school we drifted apart and recently I decided to look him up. That's when I discovered the news. He was a very special guy in too many ways to describe. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

To the family of Dr. Scott Ickes,
My husband and I became patients of Scotts when he first opened Advantage Chiropractic in Henderson. We felt it was our advantage to have had the opportunity to have Scott work on our bodies and also help heal our souls. While you knew he was a great man, please realize that so many of us also did. We will miss him tremendously. God bless you all during this difficult time. Deb and Bill Moder

Scott you were my son Philippe's friend. Steve and I met you so many years ago now, I always had a soft spot for you, you were like a "big" "little" boy. Now you are free. You have the answers ... there is no frontier anymore, it's pure love and energy. May your daughthers and your family receive back this energy and love and may it support and give them understanding and strength. Aurevoir ... with love for you and all, Huguette MacInnes.

I, like so many others who loved your son, Scotty, can't quite seem to find the perfect way to express what an amazingly gifted, deeply compassionate, charmingly handsome, beautiful, gentle loving soul, he was to all lucky enough to have known him. I consider myself blessed & honored to have 26 years of friendship & affinity for him. My deepest sympathy to Mr & Mrs Ickes, his precious girls, Bill, Susan & your entire family. Please know you will be in my prayers.

All my love, Lisa Steck

To Scott's family I give my heartfelt condolences. After 25 years of knowing Scott, a high school crush came to fruition and we shared our love of the Lord and our children with each other. I was so blessed to have him back in my life, even for a brief time. To Ally and Maddee, you were daddy's shining stars. Maddee, I hope you liked the giant jelly beans from Texas, and Ally, I will send the Hoodie that Dad promised to bring to you. To Sherry, Scott's mom, I have to share with you the love he had for his mother. When he found out I was a Gemini, he said, "great! now I have 4 of you to love me unconditionally!" I hope that brings a smile to your heart as it does mine. I will continue to pray for all of you and rejoice as the Angels usher such a precious soul into the arms of our Savior. God's Blessings to you all.

Sherry, Howard, Bill and Susan,

I am very sorry to hear about Scott. It's been some time since I've seen Scott, but I have fond memories of him... as a kid playing football in your front yard, the great trip I took with all of you to the beach in Encinitas in the early 80's, and the many days I spent at your house watching the Dallas Cowboys. The McKinley's thoughts are with you.

Dr. Scott was more then a doctor to me, he was a rolemodel and a close friend. He could make a joke out of anything. After my appointments we would go out back and throw a football and man was he athletic! I was like dang this old man can throw further then me! Scotty was an awesome guy and will be missed dearly.

Thanks for all the laughs, ol' buddy. You will be missed and remembered forever... Riding the lifts at Mt. I hope peace and happiness are now yours.

Scott was a great man! He raised my daughter Ariel as if she was his own. I will never forget when Lisa and I went to Portland to visit Ariel when Scott and Natalie moved to Portland while Scott was in Chiropractor School. We had reservations to stay in a hotel, Scott would not have it. Here I was, with my girlfriend, staying in the same house, in the next room, at my ex-wifes and new husbands house. Scott made what I was sure was going to be a very awkward situation, into a joyous memory. Scott and I spent a lot of time together; we golfed, drank, laughed, bonded, and became great friends. Scott your kindness, character, and energy will live on in everyone that was forchinate enough to know you.
