Robert Plummer Obituary

Robert "Bob" Earl Plummer, 66, of Jaco' Beach, Costa Rica, passed away peacefully Jan. 26, 2006. Bob was born Feb. 23, 1939, the beginning of an extraordinary life of achievement. Arriving in Tucson, Ariz., in 1959, from Compton, Calif., Bob was a student at the University of Arizona. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity where he was elected president. He was also a member of the scholastic honor society called the "Bobcats" and held leadership positions in a variety of campus organizations. The organization where he had the most fun and displayed his leadership to thousands, was as "Drum Major" of the University of Arizona Marching Band. It was something to see! After graduation in 1962, Bob began his business career in the hospitality industry with Del Webb Corporation and reached the pinnacle of the industry as general manager of the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. Now it was time for a new challenge. He purchased a 100 acre parcel of land that is best described as an oasis (hundreds of palm trees and hot natural springs) that became known as "Warm Springs Desert Oasis." The oasis is in the town of Moapa near Las Vegas. Bob's efforts converted the property into a spa, resort and retreat that was very successful and enjoyed for over 20 years by many Las Vegas families who to this day hold very fond memories of their time in this "Jewel in the Desert" that Bob created. Once more it was time for a change. It was now time for retirement and the fulfillment of a lifetime dream to live in Costa Rica in a small town called Jaco' Beach. Life was good! His time was spent living on the beach, fishing, exploring the jungles, traveling throughout the region and enjoying the lifestyle and beauty of Costa Rica. After 10 years in Jaco' Beach, the journey has ended, but with a smile on his face and the satisfaction of knowing his accomplishments were truly extraordinary. Bob is survived by his children, Tiffany Manley and Trent Plummer; former wife, Lynn; and brother, Joe Howard. Private services were held in Jaco' Beach and the "Warm Springs Desert Oasis".
