He was an avid classic car and street rod enthusiast. He enjoyed restoring antique memorabilia, riding motorcycles and traveling. He specialized in auto body and custom paint. Roy opened his own auto body and towing company in Lewiston, and sold his business in 1971. Driven by his passion for cars, he went on to build and show a number of custom vehicles, travel the show circuit, and win many awards. He founded the Lewiston Autorama and later sold this venue. Roy served in the Idaho National Guard, 155th Howitzer Battalion, from 1958 to 1966, and two years in the Reserves. In 1972, he moved to Reno, where he resided 18 years. In 1974, he married Jacqueline (Salters) DeLaney. While in Reno, Roy continued his work in the automotive field and worked as auto body manager for Hallman Chevrolet and Jones-West Ford. He entered the insurance claims adjusting field, first with Crawford & Co., and in 1982, he started his own independent claims adjusting firm, DeLaney's Associated Service, Inc., with offices in Reno and Las Vegas, and in northern California. In 1990, Roy and Jackie moved to Las Vegas, where they have resided for more than 17 years. He sold the businesses and fully retired in 2004. Roy loved life, his family and waking every day to the sunshine of Nevada. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends. He passed away after an eight-year battle with ALS (Lou Gerhig's disease). The family wishes to thank ALS of Nevada for their caring support and services.
