Steven McLaughlin Obituary

STEVEN MCLAUGHLIN Steven Chalen McLaughlin, 55, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, after a long illness. Born Nov. 18, 1953, in Olean, N.Y., Steve spent all of his life in Las Vegas and graduated from Valley High School. He enjoyed bowling and golf. Steve worked in the bar and restaurant management industry (Inn Zone, Gold Rush, The Lift and the Magic Star). Although Steve cut an imposing figure, he was a big ole teddy bear. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as "The Big Guy." Many thanks go out to his sister-in-law who cared and provided for him over the past two years. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eleanor McLaughlin; and his brothers, Bob and Mike. He is survived by his nephews, Danny and Josh McLaughlin; and niece, Alexis McLaughlin. Services will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Beano's Casino, 7200 W. Lake Mead Blvd., in Las Vegas. Donations can be made to the Nevada SPCA (No Kill Shelter), 4800 W. Dewey Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89118.

Steve and Mark Muth gave me my first bartending in 1992 at the Sidelines bar. We stayed very good friends and I wish I could have said goodbye to my Big Kahuna. I will miss him very much
