WILLIAM BETA It is with great sadness that the family of William Max Beta, 72, disabled veteran of the U.S. Army, known as "Bill," suddenly passed away January 12, 2018, in Las Vegas. After the Army, he served as a police officer for Westchester County, N.Y. for 20 years until retirement. While a police officer, he was also a volunteer fireman with the New York Valhalla Fire Department for several years. Bill was born March 24, 1946 to Fritz and Elizabeth Beta in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and, in 2001, moved to Las Vegas, where he resided for the last 18 years. He was a proud member of the National Disabled Veterans Foundation and Westchester County Department of Public Safety Retired Police Officers Association. He leaves behind his wife, Carol Beta; sons, William M. Beta Jr. and Gregory M. Beta, and their mother, Catherine Beta; stepdaughter, Shelly Norland; and stepson, Erik Norland. Per Bill's wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to or do a good deed for a veteran. Please join us in celebrating his life at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Boulder City.
