William Ewing Obituary

WILLIAM ERWIN EWING 1951 - 2020

William (Bill) Ewing passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He was born on January 16, 1951 in Washington, DC. He attended military school and spent his childhood traveling overseas extensively before arriving in the states where he graduated from Rincon High school in Tucson, Arizona. It was there that he met Deborah Hite, whom he later married and together they raised two daughters.

Bill was a resident of Las Vegas for over 40 years. An extremely skilled craftsman, Bill was a proud member of Southwest Carpenters Union Local 1977, and retired in December 2016. He was an accomplished Toastmaster, a dedicated Mason and a longtime parishioner at All Saints Episcopal church. He was known as a generous and loyal friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Colonel Walter Ray and Freta Ewing and his sister Linda Jakey. Bill is survived by his loving daughters, Rachael and Carla and his beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Alyssa and Kyra Grace.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date, when public gatherings are permitted.

Services will be private.

Uncle Bill! We love you so much. We absolutely loved your visits to Indiana. Your most recent meeting your great-grand nephew and trudging through the corn maze. Or that time we played the nostalgic game of "LIFE" with mom and we laughed all night. Or a good old game of softball in the yard. I'm gonna miss your "well hello dear!" We love you and you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Bill about 13 years ago as a customer of mine. He soon became a close friend. He was so kind and always had great stories to tell. I loved his company and I will miss our Friday mornings together. Im so glad we had breakfast for his last birthday and also very thankful for our last phone conversation. He sounded so well and in good spirits. Im still a little in shock that he is gone. I love you Bill and will always miss you.

Bill Ewing was of great assistance for many, many years to the parish of all Saints Episcopal Church. Everywhere I look around our campus I see evidence of his presence. In my service as senior warden, I knew that I could call on him to fix anything that needed repair. I believe he played a major part in the choir loft, numerous handicap ramps around the campus and whatever the altar Guild needed. He will be greatly missed.
