John Kment Obituary
Beloved husband of Julie for 54 years. Loving father of Wendy (Matt) Lamontagne, Jeff Kment, Greg Kment, Margaret (Michael) Burd, Julie (Matt) Komarowski, Chris (Samantha) Kment. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Daniel, Annaliese, Jacob, Grace, Luca, Alexandrea, Gabriella, Josephina, Serena, and Isabella.
John was a dedicated educator in Roseville Community Schools for 51 years and served as Superintendent for 31 of those years. In addition to his role as an educational leader, John was a positive member of the community, and friend to all. His loss will be deeply felt by everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be held at A. H. Peters Funeral Home 32000 Schoenherr Rd Warren, MI 48088 Sunday, November 5th from 2pm until 8pm and Monday, November 6th from 2pm to 8pm with a Rosary Monday at 7pm. John will lie in state Tuesday, November 7th at 9:30am until time of Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Veronica Catholic Church, 21440 Universal Ave, Eastpointe, MI 48021. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Roseville Scholarship Foundation. www.ahpeters.com

Hello! I was just wondering if we were related! I always thought that the last name of KMENT was so odd that anyone with that last name had to be related! Is it possible to get in touch with someone in your family to see if we might be? Long lost relative possibly? [email protected]

I grew up in Chicago and my dad was Frank Kment who had 2 other brothers and know my first cousins. My dad was born in 1918 and both of his 2 brothers, Dominick and Edward have passed as well as my dad. Thanks for your time and understanding!

I am so sorry to hear of John´s passing. He was a special man. He had such a wonderful appreciation for fun, humor, kindness, professionalism, kids, loyalty and familly. I have so much respect for him. My time in Roseville under John´s leadership will always be a cherished time in my life.

What a sad surprise to read of Mr. Kment´s passing. He was the superintendent when both our children were going through school in Roseville. Always such a gracious person. I also was happy to see his wife and him over the years, when they would come into the Eastpointe Library where I worked for many years. Condolences to his whole family on their loss.

Mr Kment was one of my very favorite teachers. I took an `International Relations´ class with him in my senior year of high school - 1975. Of all the classes I ever took, this is one that I enjoyed immensely. This was when I decided I wanted to go in to education. I am now retired from UCS, and John Kment was the reason I went in to education. I will always remember how he made learning fun, which is something I strived to do with my students. RIP, Mr. Kment. Your legacy will live on.

As a fellow Macomb County Superintendent, I had the pleasure of attending meetings with John and quite often engaging in conversations. I found him to be a leader of leaders: professional, kind, and a good listener. We also had some good laughs discussing our mutual nemesis, red-tailed squirrels. John made a difference in Roseville Community Schools and Macomb County.
