Mom's other brother the big reason we all love her and will miss her so much.
Mom was born to Alva and Ruth Brooks on July 26, 1923 in Detroit MI. She was the middle child with an older sister Edith and younger brother Lee but Mom was introduced to another brother early in her life. We never discussed exactly the time or date when it happened perhaps Donna might know because she had many more opportunities to talk with mom, living and taking care of mom all these years. Thanks Donna! But this other brother influenced every aspect of mom's life. That loving Mom, Aunt, friend, co-worker or what ever your relationship with mom was a reflection of that other brother.
That mom who laughed as a young son wash his dog in a mud puddle in the drive way.
That mom who loving cared for two daughter with a Rheumatic Fever
The mom who wanted to have all her children birthed at home or at her moms home.
The mom that let her children grow their own way despite her personal fears after giving Godly counsel.
The mom who knew some of us would chase mountain vistas and others stay close to home.
The mom who took charge of her family after being widowed at the age of 42 and raised four young children to adulthood with love.
The Aunt who shared love anytime or anywhere, a baby shower, wedding day, a funeral or around a camp fire which usually included a funny story.
The friend who was always there for you sharing the tears and laughter of a life well lived.
That sweet voice on the other end of the phone when you called from near or far.
The mom, friend, Aunt who loved to hold a baby, a hand or a child just because they needed holding or she needed the closeness of you.
The mom, aunt or friend who loved to laugh and smile (that smile was her natural expression ).
The mom who gave all her children an opportunity to be introduced to her other brother at the Romeo Methodist Church. That other brothers name is Jesus.
