Mr. Richard Edward "Dick" Bonus

Richard Edward "Dick" Bonus, age 83, of Shelby Township, died peacefully Sunday, July 22, 2012 after a long illness. He was born October 26, 1928 in Detroit. Mr. Bonus spent his entire career working in the tire business, first at Firestone then General Tire and Rao Wholesale Tire Centers (Metro 25), before opening his own business, Bonus Tire Center, in Sterling Heights in 1989. He was an avid golfer and loved to tell jokes. He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Isabelle J. "Toots" Bonus and is survived by his children, Janel A. (Stephen) Gessert of Midland, Richard A. Bonus of Paris, France, Jill A. (Thomas) Ignasiak of Macomb and Mark J. (Sharon) Bonus also of Macomb; grandchildren, Andrew (Tami Howard) and David Gessert, Nicole and Bryan Ignasiak, and Lauren and Megan Bonus; and great-grandson Grayson Gessert. He was also predeceased by his parents, Adam and Sophia Bonus, and sister, Dorothy Stelzer. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27 at St. Kieran Catholic Church, 53600 Mound Road, Shelby Township. Inurnment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and 1-9 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home, 46530 Romeo Plank south of 21 Mile Road, Macomb. Additional visitation will be before Mass at church from 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Henry Ford Hospices.
