Dale, I did get to the funeral. I was late, and when I came out the guest book had already been removed. I am so sorry to hear about Geno's death. Bill used to call him every few weeks or so to see how he was doing. I will be praying for you and your family. I know what you are going thru now. It is so hard to go thru and I am still having a rough time thinking about him every day. I know that God is there for you and he will ease your pain as you go along. Please know that I will be thinking about you and praying for you. I send my love and prayers. Ruth Newman

TO THE FAMILY OF ALFRED “GENO” MCDANIEL

The untimely death of my longtime friend “Geno” was received with shock and much sadness. Please accept my personal and sincere condolences. Our years of friendship with are an important entry in my book of memories.

It would be tempting to say that Geno inherited the ingredients of his success or that it was something within his bloodlines. But instead it was the sum total of merit, and hard work, and especially, the choices that he alone made for himself that determined the direction his life would take.

Geno remembered that justice is conscience, not just personal conscience, but the conscience of mankind. As I reflect back Geno was not only an amazing person but a giving person who in his own way was always looking for ways to make life better for others. He was a kind and distinguished gentleman and could always be found doing the people's business to the very end.

This is the light he cast for those who looked to him for help in their darkest moments. The light that led so many who pursued the American dream and the expectation of justice, the light that now serves as a guiding beacon for those who follow in his wake.
His life bent toward fairness for all and he truly possessed that American quality. Geno fought the tough battles that were required of him and had a capacity to learn and a capacity to listen. But what stands out to me the most is not what Geno has done, it's how he lived his life. He moved through this world with unshakeable calm and confidence.

He will be profoundly missed and will always be the rainbow in our clouds. Our heart aches at our loss, but his legacy will always be with us. So, at the end of that last tour of duty and hearing the sound of that final ‘all aboard' call we should all come to realize that a life lived believing, giving, caring and loving your family is the only life that really matters.

Gone from our eyes, but not forgotten in our hearts.
