Macon, Georgia - Alice Marcella Bailey was born on January 31, 1942 to the late Horace Bailey (d. 1965) and Hattie Lorene Costella Oliver Bailey (d. 1962). She transitioned peacefully on March 31, 2023.
A Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 21st, 2023 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church on Ward St, followed by a Celebration of her Life at The University of Georgia, Robert Train Center on Oglethorpe St. from 12:30 P.M. – 3:30 P.M.
She leaves behind to celebrate her legacy: her sister, Amethyst Renee Bailey Burris of Round Rock, TX; her sister-in-law, Wendy Bailey of Cape Coral, FL; nephews; Phillip (Karen) Williams of Clinton, MD, Prate (Cheri) Bailey of Cape Coral, FL, and Draper Bailey of Bala Cynwyd, PA; nieces; Phyllis (Andrew) Callender of Philadelphia, and Samira Burris of Round Rock, TX; thirteen great-nieces and nephews; two very special life-long friends; Reesa Moteley Reynolds and James Caldwell; as well as a host of cousins and friends.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Alice was really Aunt Alice , a lifelong friend of our family , my dad Gerald Adkins, Richard Adkins. From the stories told her mother and my grandmother were friends in Macon, GA . She was a very classy lady , admired by many . Rest in peace

I´ve known Alice from growing up in Tindall Heights before she became Macon´s "Party Doll" DJ on the radio. However it was our reconnection in Philadelphia that I realized she was legendary in Philly´s corporate world. When Alice was asked to chair the annual UNCF benefit fundraiser dinner she told me it would be the biggest and most successful banquet ever. My job was to handle the banquet foods, setup and services and she would oversee the banquet protocol and solicit the financial support from corporate America. She got every corporation to purchase a table for $3000 each for their executives. She further got Philly´s sports teams, local TV personalities, renowned entertainers and Who´s Who of Philadelphia to attend. Alice raised more than triple the funds for UNCF from all previous years and has since not been surpassed. Thanks to Alice it was the greatest achievement of my career. Alice, homegirl you were truly legendary in Philly´s corporate world. Rest in Paradise, much love and respect.
