For Myrt, Sal, Milster, Beebs and scoot. Making a right onto pio nono, seeing the magnolias, turning left into the driveway, make sure not to block the denali or van, cross the lot, open the gate, glance at the pool and playhouse and tennis court, walk up the porch steps, open the screen door, look under the bulb in the middle cabinet, open the door, put in mom's birthday, see if anything good is cooking, turn right down the hall, laugh at the braces picture, glance at yourself in the mirror, say hey to Mary, see Marla in the computer room, round the corner, and there he was, always happy to see you and ready to impart the greatest of wisdom, walk up and give the man in the chair a hug and a kiss, say hey to Marla, sit down on the couch and hang out, maybe go get him some ice cream, or just tell him what's going on because he really wanted to know (and yes, sometimes ask for something). Dr. Sanders, Doc, Bev, Bevo, Big Hauss, but most of all Dad! I love and miss that man so much and wish little Ben could have been lucky enough to meet the greatest man I have ever known, I hope I can give him a small percentage of what he gave me. There are so many more things I could say, but that should at least put a smile on your faces. I love and miss you all and I know he is watching over all his grandkids, the ones that were fortunate enough to know papa and the ones that will only hear the legend of Beverly B. Sanders, Jr.

We were reminiscing about old times in Germany when Bev was working for the Army. We were talking about how Bev used to stay at my apartment in Sindelfingen and how much fun we had palling around. He was such a great, funny guy with a wonderful sense of humour. With great sadness I just found out that dear Bev passed away several years ago. My deepest condolences. Ed Garcia

Dr.Sanders gave me my first job after college as a medical assistant. I remember how he was NEVER too busy to bounce Sally on his knee, a truly wonderful Dad. My very best to all of those who loved Bev.

Only just finding out about this fine fine person and awesome Doctor.
To Bev's family I extend my deepest sympathy for your loss.
Bev was a selfless person who was instrumental in spurring many people toward their potential. He will be sorely missed by many he has touched. Dr Sanders (Bev) saved me from a painful possible death by melanoma in the mid 70s. I am very grateful and owe Bev my life.

Huntley and Family,

I was saddened to hear of the passing of your Dad. When I started in the industry with Elan Pharmaceuticals Dr. Sanders was one of the first physicians I called on. Not knowing much about Dr. Sanders I asked other reps in the industry what I should expect and they said: "I don't know he won't talk to me". Well I figured that was their experience with Dr. Sanders but it wouldn't be my experience. And I was right! As one of many pharmaceutical representatives who would come and visit with your Dad he always spoke to me and treated me with professional respect. Usually our chats were brief due to his busy schedule, until the day I came in and told him that I had been promoted, and that he would be getting a new rep. He told me that I handled him just right, I didn't bore him with silly details, I treated his staff well, I didn't stay too long and that he was really going to miss me. That was, and still is, one of the best compliments I have ever received from a physician.
I'm really going to miss your Dad Huntley and thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts via your guest book.
You and your family have my deepest sincere sympathy.

Scott, Huntley, Millie, Sally, Bebe, Ben and Marla, I am deeply saddened by the loss of one of the BEST MEN I was fortunate enough to have worked for. He is the reason that I graduated with a computer science degree as he recognized my talents even at 17 years of age. I worked for BB "DOC" as an assistant in the front or back office doing whatever needed to be done. I worked as a programmer first for DOC when he started Medical Software Management, then left there and went to work as a programmer for Ga Power Southern Company and I am now a programmer at Panasonic. Doc encouraged me and was always there for me and supported me. We laughed, we Cried, and man the party buses for the weekend trips to Atlanta were the most fun ever! I also enjoyed babysitting all six of you and all the fun things we used to do. I wish I had known and could have been there in person to see all of you again. Scott, I still feel bad about the wreck we had on the way home from school when I used to pick you up every day and I hope you have forgotten about it by now. I will never forget DOC and I will always think very fondly of our days and years at Georgia Dermatology Clinic and Skin Cancer Center. I always have thought of Doc fondly and my sister and I will always remember him. My condolences to all of you.

I just found out about BB Sanders "Doc". My sister, Jenny Wynn Mauldin, and I use to work for "Doc" for many years at GA Derm. He was such a wonderful person that seemed to really "see" people. He could see the potential inside a person and "push" them to meet his expectations. I began working for him around 1987 in Macon. I began as a file clerk, then medical assistant. I was majoring in Accounting. When I started college in Milledgeville he put me to work in the Milledgeville office. I changed my major to Nursing, in great part because of my experiences in Doc's office. He put me working on Skin Cancer Research. I worked as an RN doing Research at Emory University for 11 Years. I have thought of him so often over the years and how much he influenced my career choices. I actually now work in the Outpatient Center for Heart Failure Therapy at Emory where we see about 15 patients a day average and think fondly of the days we saw 100 patients. All in a day's work at "Doc's" Clinic. He was such a wonderful person that influenced so many people and brought out the best in them. As one person already mentioned "WE worked hard and PLAYED hard". I have never been to better Parties than we had with "Bev". Jenny and I use to babysit all the Sander's kids and drive that Suburban around Macon!! Marla, I hope you read this and remember how crazy those Wednesday night clinics were. There are a lot of memories I could continue on and on. He was always so generous and loved to have a great time. He was so much like a father to me and my sister. I often think of how he wanted me to become a Nurse Practioner and who knows I may yet! Please know that he will be remembered and loved for all he did for me!

To the family of Dr. Sanders and Marla,
I just found out about Dr. Sanders passing and was deeply saddened. I can't even begin to tell you what he meant to me. I started working for him in the early 1970's and worked for him about eight different times over a period of three decades. To have had the honor to work for him you learned to work hard because he would have had it no other way. He rewarded us in so many ways and when it was time to play we played (christmas parties, new years eve parties, and so many other occasions).
The love, memories and admiration I have for Dr. Sanders will remain in my heart forever and I will be forever grateful for all he did for me.
My deepest sympathy,
Connie (Walden Copeland) Roberts

I was so sadden to hear that Dr. Bev Sanders passed away. During the late 70's, I worked for Ga Dermatology Clinic in Macon, Ga. Some of my best memories are from that time and all the wonderful people. Loved the Fish Fry's at Dr. Sanders home. He was a wonderful doctor and inspired me in my career. Condolences to Dr. Bev's family. I know you will miss him beyond measure.

My family and I would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Sander's family over the loss of your father. I worked for "Doc" for many years and he taught me many things - life lessons, business lessons, as well as an understanding of Dermatology. Most of all he was someone I could call a friend and everything he did for me over the years will never be forgotten. I will never forget the ladies I worked with while at GA Derm and I will never forget working with Dr. Sanders. I just found out about his passing and I am truly sorry to have missed the services to express personally to his family how much he meant to me.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Sanders Family - I was a senior in high school in 1990 and was given the opportunity to work in Dr. Sanders office, through my high school work program. I learned so much working at Ga Derm and have always remembered my first job as a file clerk. I thank Dr. Sanders for allowing me the opportunity to work in his office. It was there that I learned the basic knowledge and skills needed in the working world. He will be missed.

To the family of Dr. Bev Sanders:
I had the privilege of working for Dr. Sanders for several years in the late 1970's before moving to Colorado. Dr. Sanders was instrumental in directing my diagnosis and successful treatemnt for a very serious illness while I worked for him. I fondly recall how he enjoyed celebrating the holidays ... the Labor Day fish fries and the Christmas trips to Atlanta on the bus! Dr. Sanders encouraged and supported my decision to continue a career in the health care profession. He was truly a great physician and teacher and a wonderful man. I last saw Dr. Sanders about two years ago and we spent time "catching up". I am fortunate to have known and loved him. Please accept my sincere codolences.

Scott, Sally, Huntley, Bebe, Ben and Aunt Charlene, I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Bev. I have so many memories of all of us playing at yalls house, the lake house and family gatherings. I will never forget the time at yalls house I fell off of the bed, gashed my eyebrow open and Uncle Bev stitched me right up! To the Family of Bev Sanders:
I am writing for my brother, Jim Sloan, and myself, Helen Sloan Randall. My brother and Bev have been friends since their high school days in the 1950's. Our family always thought highly of Bev. Our parents remained friends with him throughout their lives. They appreciated him when he was a kid hanging out at our house and were his patients for years. My father used to joke that his paperboy was his dermatologist! My brother loves to tell the tale of the four friends from their days at Mercer University when they hitchhiked to California and back. That was Jim Sloan, James OQuinn, Roy Greene and Bev. We send our heartfelt sympathy to the family.

Bev and I were Phi Delts at Mercer. Later, after we graduated, I lived with Bev in Boblingen Germany. He had an apartment built in the Wasserturm, a water tower. It was wonderful being there with my good friend. He really enjoyed people and loved a good party. Our fun during that time is reminiscent of the lyrics "Those were the days my friend." I'll cherish his memory as long as I live.

Dear Scott, Sally, Millie, Huntley,Bebe and Ben,
Dr. Sanders was one of a kind and a loyal friend to all who were lucky to know him. When my father was sick he was there everyday to check on him and was by his side when he died, a comforting presence to all. He also gave me my first job in which I learned so much from. I worked my way from filing charts and making his favorite tuna salad on saltines to being his secretary before I left to finish college. I always looked forward to those Christmas bus trips to Atlanta in the early days. My husband and I enjoyed the times we hunted at the plantation and loved sitting down with Dr. S for a good southern meal afterwards. He will be missed by many.

I have known Doc for almost 10 years and had the opportunity to work for him for a little over 5 of those years. I too, along with Jonna, am at a loss for words at this time. I have been trying to type this all day with nothing sounding quite right. Doc was loved and admired by many and will be greatly missed. Even though I no longer work at GA Derm I asked about him and think about him often. Doc was like a great big teddy bear, and would do just about anything he could to help you if you were in need. Huntley, Bebe, and Ben I had the pleasure of working with you as well, you father was a wonderful person. But in this time just remember that he is no longer suffering and he is and will always be watching over you and your family. I love you Doc!

I can not begin to tell of the impact Doc made on my life. I wanted to work for him several years before I actually began working for him in 1978 at 700 Spring. The work ethic and knowledge of Dermatology that Doc required from his "girls" has followed me over the years. Though I tried, I could never thank him for his contribution to my business successes. Those who knew of Doc know he could be a bear at times but if you were fortunate to "really know" him, you know he would go to any lengths to help you any way he could.
I thank God that he gave me the opportunity to know and work with Doc and especially for allowing us to share a families love.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Hunt and family.

Our deep condolences and sympathy to all of Bev's friends and family. He was a wonderful person. We knew Bev through Dermatology. I will miss his grace, humor and twinkle in his eye.

December 6, 2008

My personal and sincere condolences are extended to the family of my 1953 classmate, Doctor Beverly Sanders.
It would be tempting to say that Bev inherited the ingredients of his success; that it was something within his bloodlines, but instead it is the sum total of merit, and hard work, and especially, the choice that he alone made for himself that determined the direction his life would take.
This is the light he cast for those who looked to him for help in their darkest moments, the light that led so many who pursued the American dream and the expectation of justice, the light that now serves as a guiding beacon for those who follow in his wake.
Bev always remembered that justice is conscience, not just personal conscience but the conscience of mankind. He felt that those who recognized the voice of their own conscience, usually recognized the voice of justice.
And finally, Bev will not be remembered only by his words, but also his kind deeds. At the end of the day, we all should come to realize that a life lived loving your family and helping others is the only life that really matters. He is gone from our eyes, but not forgotten in our hearts.
